My scout rifle is a Win 94 AE no safety trapper carbine in 30-30 with a 1.5-5x20 VXIII mounted in the normal position. A joy to carry and adequate for any game around here. I missed a deer once because my normally mounted scope fogged up from my breath on cold winters day, but I still use 'em that way. I figure that's just the breaks of the game. I've had really accurate Rugers and some not so good, same as the Remingtons I've owned. You pay your money and take your chances, just like most things in life.
