M&P9 M2.0 Compact
At the same local gun show on October 13th, I also found a new M&P9 M2.0 Compact.
M&P9 M2.0 Compact, 3.6" Barrel

Again, I haven't had a chance to shoot this one yet, but I've been thoroughly impressed with my 4.25" M&P9, so I thought I would give the newer version a try.

Picked up my new Security 9 today. Fired 200 rounds of Winchester bulk FMJ. So I am thoroughly pleased with this pistol.

My "last" purchase was a Taurus 905. I've been toying with the idea of 9mm revolver but haven't found a Smith and Wesson 547 locally or on GB at a low enough price (since this is just a whim I'm indulging), or a Ruger SP101 in 9mm locally (since their QA recently has been only slightly less bad than Taurus and I want an easy return).
I'll never buy a Rossi or a Taurus on line as in both cases the buyer is pretty much the QA inspector, so if I can't inspect it first, or easily return it, I am not interested.
In this case, that caution paid off as while it inspected well in the store, when I got it home and loaded it with a moon clip, I found there was insufficient clearance to close the cylinder. It single loads just fine and the 9mm rounds, when head spaced on the case mouth appear to be properly head spaced. Consequently, the issue is either the moon clips being too thick, or the rear face of the cylinder not being adequately relieved enough to allow the moon clips to fit. I suspect the latter.
So, less than 2 hours after buying it, I returned it. They gave me the option of a refund or just sending it in for repair. I opted for the refund as thy will send it in for repair anyway, which will probably take 4 to 6 weeks. I did let them know to call me when it comes back in, as if it works properly then I'll be interested in purchasing it.
One reason this one interests me is that it was made in 2014 - well before the January 1 2017 cut off. Taurus guns prior to that date have a lifetime warranty, while Taurus guns made from that date forward have a 1 year warranty. A lifetime warranty on a Taurus is important as you need to use it with Taurus guns more often than with an S&W.

I recently traded a newly acquired 3” 13-3 for this 3” 625-3, which came from the original owner with factory grips, box and goodies.

My next to last purchase was a trade. I traded my Lyman No 2 tang sighted 1973 vintage Model 94 carbine in .30-30 for a 1951 Vintage Model 94 Carbine:
Based on what I paid for my 1973 Model 94 several years ago, what I got for it in trade, and the cash I paid on top, I have about $200 more invested in this one.
I took it home, cleaned it up and installed a Marbles tang sight from the same time period that I've had sitting on the bench for several months - which is what got me thinking about a trade a few weeks ago when I saw this carbine in a local gun shop. I also added the non correct but perfect fitting front sight hood, since its original hood was missing.
It's not anywhere near perfect, but it looks good inside and has a great bore. If it shoots like the other three pre 64 Model 94s I have owned (and I still own two of those), it'll become the "shooter" since I don't have to worry as much about any dings it may acquire in the field.

I unexpectedly bought a Glock 19 from my son yesterday so that he can buy a G17 instead.
The other purchase was a Raven Vanguard holster that I find very comfortable and it does conceal well.

Here's what I have picked up the last week or so.
I got a IMI Galil parts kit and IMI NOS barrel from APEX Gun Parts. Just ordered the milled receiver from CNC Warrior. Gonna have Jeff Miller at Hillbilly Firearms in Tennessee do the build for me. Still got a few random parts to round up.
I also bought back from my brother my M4 Carbine clone I built. Started out as a Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine but I did a lot of work to it. Added a pinned and welded 1:7 twist 14.7" M4 barrel from Brownell's and had the A2 flash hider pinned and welded. Put an ALG milspec buffer tube, Colt Fiberlite stock, and PSA heavy buffer on it. Also added Doublestar dual heat shield hand guards, a PSA Full-Auto bolt carrier group, a Colt sling mount on the barrel, and an ALG ACT trigger.
I also got:
West German Police trade-in SIG-Sauer P6 9mm
Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman .357 Magnum
Model 36 Chief's Special .38 Special square butt with Tyler T-Grip
The SIG was made in November 1981. Going to order a West German shoulder holster, mag pouch, and extra mag probably tonight off GunBroker.
I think the Model 28 was made around '72 or '73. I just ordered a pair of period correct S&W target grips from a forum member. I don't like those Magna grips on a gun this big. I shot it earlier today using Winchester white box hollow point ammo I got at WalMart and the thing has a HUGE muzzle flash.
The Model 36 has matching # Diamond grips so I am assuming it's a pre-'67 gun. Still need to figure out what year it was made/shipped.

Finally, have time for the range today.
We participated in the CMP Western Games a couple of weeks ago and added this SA RM1 Special two our two SA Service grades as another competition rifle. I know collectors are not fond of CMP specials, but holy cow! As a lifelong student of history this is the closest I will ever get to a brand new M1 from October of 1939 (receiver). I am very excited (pre-range) and its name is Toro.

My Latest Purchase
Always wanted a Henry 22WMR, found one online delivered to my FFL for $509. It was the best price I have seen. Local prices run from $549-$559.

Remington 721 300 H&H, 1953 gun, lived a hard life but the price was right. And I think I can bring it back to hunting condition.
(yesterday)
Beretta M9, replacement for my last LEO issue gun. Got it out of layaway last week.
Model 64-3, No good reason, just wanted it.
Marlin Model 336c, from about 1952, liked the look and feel.
Colt Officer's Model target 38 special, Just haven't owned a Colt wheelgun in a while.
S&W Model 622 22lr, Good shape, Wood grips and good price. Owned one about 20 years ago and just had a hankerin' for another.
Might be another in the mix but I can't remember what it is.
This all from a guy that made a New Year's resolution not to buy any more guns!

For my Shield 45:
- Concealment Express Kydex IWB Holster
- Azula leather OWB holster
- Spare flush mag
- 2 X spare extended mag
- Ameriglo Pro i-Dot night sights. Front sight with the blaze orange surround.
Used to have a Sig P938. Then came the Glock 43. I shot and carried the Glock 43 easier than the Sig, so the Sig was sold. The Shield .45 is just as easy to carry as the Glock 43, but I shoot the Shield .45 better. Now the 43 has got to go.
I may have some variety in range guns for fun, but I don't like the same variety in carry guns.

My most recent was kind of a package or cluster of things all with a plan in mind. I bought back a model 28 barrel I used to own that has been rebored to 41, I found a decent model 28 and I traded back into a set of N frame magnas in ivory that I used to have. A tapered 4" barreled model 28 in 41 Special with ivories is the plan once it gets done.

It seems that I have reached the stage of getting the right accessories to go with the guns I already have. Case in point is my latest purchase. When I posted my 1943 Ithaca M1911A1 on another Forum, a knowledgeable member noticed that the chamber hood was polished when it should be blue. The chamber hood is the top rear part of the outside of the chamber that shows through the ejection port:
So it was off to eBay to get a correct High Standard barrel:

I just picked up a Colt New Service with RNWMP (Royal North West Mounted Police) markings with an original holster. It is in .45 Colt. I think I'll go to the range tomorrow to shoot it.

Smith & Wesson 642-1. Wasn’t really looking for one, but the price was right, and really, can you ever have too many J Frame snubbies?
Edit: Sadly, it was lost in a boating accident shortly after purchase . . .

Last Thursday the stars and planets all aligned, I finally got the Browning Hi-Power I've been wanting for many years.
I've been looking for either a T or C series Hi-Power for years and years. What I wanted was a nice shooter condition pistol, not a safe queen. Often I've found one but they came at times when I didn't have the scratch to buy them or I've found those new in the box Hi-Powers I could afford but I know I would never be comfortable really shooting and carrying them.
Last week thing all came together. I found my Hi-Power. It is a nice mid 1970s C Series pistol in 80-90% condition. The price was reasonable so I brought it home. Now Browning is no longer manufacturing the Hi-Power and the prices are climbing I'm glad this one came along.
Sometimes things just work out. It is nice but not too nice.

Texas requires a concealed weapon to be carried in a holster and I am still searching for the most comfortable one. I got a Vanguard Raven (left photo) a few weeks ago and like the minimalistic design that allows comfortable and secure carrying under a variety of circumstances; i.e. walking the dog to extended road trips. I ordered the Kydex (right photo) on Amazon for $10 and it works well but is less sturdy than the Raven.

When you're running out of room in the safe you can either sell off guns or make them smaller. I'm unfortunately not in real M1A1 money, but the stock is a decent enough repro.

I bought a Ruger PC carbine. W/2 17 round mags. Very fun. I just went into the shop to buy some mag. The rifle was a bonus!

Is there any 9mm pistol ever designed as "elegant" as the HP ??
I own a '77 "C" and '67 "T". Congrats on finding a "C" series in that beautiful condition

- 2 x Vickers Tactical flat faced trigger Gen3, Gen4, 43,42.
- 1 x Vickers Tactical flat faced trigger Gen5
Finally. A good flat faced trigger at a decent price. As simple as the Glock is, I don't understand why people fall for all the high priced aftermarket trigger groups for Glocks. All it takes is a little polish, some inexpensive Wolff springs, an OEM "-" connector, and now this flat faced trigger.

S&W 65-5 3” heavy barrel. Probably paid to much for it, but I haven’t seen many of them.

You won't regret that one. Even if you did "buy too early".
Mine is my favorite revolver.

Just picked up a Gen4 G19 Blue Label with Factory night sights.
I like the additional grip spacers, which allow my trigger finger to hit the 'Sweet Spot' every time.
The store has its own range, so after a quick strip, inspection and clean (it didn't really need the cleaning), I ran the old Texas CHL/LTC course (3yds, 5yds, 7yds and 10yds, 5 shots each. 20 shots total.).
Here's my results:
