Breakfast casserole a la switchblade
I was in the mood for some comfort food.
Taters, sausage, egg, cheese, sweet peppers, onion, butter, pepper and Italian seasoning.
But what knife to serve it up...?
How about my newly acquired pre-war Aerial A.C. MFG Co switchblade with stag handles?
If only I had a pistol to display it with.
Maybe I'll dig out this model 15 with bigmtnman stags...
or this model 36 with a bamabiker holster?
Decisions, decisions. Too much to think about on a full stomach.

Is there an established recipe for this, or is it a case of throwing together whatever you had in the house?

I usually start with a recipe and then do my own thing. If you're interested, PM me and I'll send it to you. It's simple and good but not diet food.

Casseroles can contain about anything you want. Just mix stuff together in a baking dish and put it in the oven. One of my wife's specialties. She makes big ones so we can get three or four meals from one.

With three growing boys and a husband to feed on one income in the '70s, my mom used to make the dreaded tuna noodle. Joke was on everybody else. I liked it. Good, home canned tuna did make it a sight better than some.

We leave out the Italian seasoning but add tomatoes and cheese. Good eating anytime of the day or night. Larry

I edited to add cheese to the ingredients. The recipe I started with called for cottage cheese and mild cheddar. I changed that to medium cheddar and mozzarella. I left it out while writing.
For those of you who aren't knife enthusiasts, this is a scarce brand of American automatic knife or switchblade. I just got it. Not many auto's were made by this company and this one is in excellent, unsharpened condition. I just acquired 11 vintage American switchblades and I'm going through them.
The action on this knife is super tight yet smooth. Far tighter than the case or schrade auto's that I have. No blade wobble at all. It's very well made. I guess the push button style was ultimately more popular and won out.

Tomatoes are always good in dishes like that.
My favorite ingredient in the OP is the K Frame.

I used to do that when My ol buddy moved back from Wisc. We shared a place as He was somewhat cash poor His 2 kids would go to His wife and say 'Uncle Daves making a big sloppy mess!' Always seemed to taste mighty fine tho. Looks good.
