Smile Ruger Blackhawk Question

The Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt/.45acp Combo:
Is the bore .452 or .454?
Anyone had experence with shooting these two calibers out of this bore?

It is .454
I've never shot the 45 ACP out of mine, because I don't cast them, and I am told that commercial .45ACP loads will suffer downrange accuracy problems out of the larger bore.

I don't know what the bore is on my .45 Blackhawk Convertible or .45 Vaquero Convertible but both of them shoot .45 ACP or .45 Colt ammo equally well. This holds true for both jacketed and lead bullets.

I made up my own blackhawk convertible in 45 Colt. I started with a sst blackhawk and a I found a blue 45 acp cylinder at a gunshow. it fit perfectly and shot every bit as good as the 45 Colt cylinder. just my opinion but I think people put too much into the cylinder throats. the Ruger should be .451 to .452. my M25-5 has throats close to .454 and it shot just as good as the Ruger with the same hard cast lead bullets

I have two, one 12+ years old and the other less than a year old. Both had a bbl in the .4525" range. The newer one had throats in both cylinders all over the place from .448-.451. THe older one had 45 acp throats smack on .453 in all 6 holes and the 45 Colt were all over. I have reamed all the throats and they shoot well but in both guns the acp will out-shoot the Colt with their best loads @ 25 yards.

I believe the bore is closer to .452. I have a convertible from the mid 1990s. I have mainly shot .45 ACPs through it and it is very accurate.

I've never slugged the bore on mine but it seems to shoot very well considering the operator using both cylinders. I like the .45acp cylinder, interesting concept, not new I know but I've had alot of comments. One guy told me I had to use the moon clips in it. I'd like to know how. I did get a chuckle out of that.
Makes a good companion to the 25-2 and the 625-2 Model of '88 I have.

My mid 1980's 45 Colt/45 ACP Blackhawk with the short 4.63" barrel is quite accurate with 45 ACP 230 grain hardball or cast. Makes a great companion to the couple S&W 45 ACP revolvers I own.

I found a shop that had 9mm and 45acp cylinders for BHs
I did buy a 9mm and my 357 is in getting fitted for it
I was going to buy the 45acp for my 45LC but after getting a 625 it really makes me wonder why?
I love shooting the 625 but this may be a case of just because
The cylinders are fair priced and in great shape
I have always wanted a convertable in both cals
Hank
