That's hilarious! Again, I'm surprised to see this thread back up, imagine my surprise when I singed on and it told my I had 40 likes! I couldn't imagine what they were for, I haven't posted anything lately. Anyway, thanks for all the compliments, I'll pass them on to Robin. He always appreciates hearing that people admire his work. BTW, he's building a Commander for me right now, a gift for my son, I'll be posting pics when it's finished.

I have never seen a gun I wanted to feel and caress more than this one. Thank you for posting and sharing this with us.

Well I followed a link in a thread, that had a link in that thread, and ended up seeing something I missed 5 years ago here. So I'm sure others missed it too. I think that it's a beautiful custom gun, but can't help but wonder what 5 years of "carry" has done to the finish. Most likely just added character. Some of my own favorite guns have bluing loss, 1911's, revolvers and some of my leverguns show they are loved and used.
This 2012 thread is making me consider tweaking a 6904 I recently bought, that already has some wear and freckles from poor storage. Plus it needs some smoothing out where my finger wraps from the grip to the trigger. "Melting" makes sense to me in that case. It's not a super collectable gun and I'm keeping it with me until death do us part anyway.
Hmmmm,........

Ha! Here it is again! Glad you like the gun. The finish has held up well, Flitz wax helps protect it, along with smooth leather lined holsters, and it hasn't been carried on a regular basis for a while. It's been on holiday at Joe Chambers' shop along with my Baer Boss for the last few months, the Baer is getting a few upgrades and the Meltdown tagged along to get a new gold bead front sight.
Here is a more recent pic, with mammoth ivory grips-
