Default Look for a good rifle case

Just had a very special rifle bulit for myself and am looking
for a very nice case. Really don't want plastic or aluminum,
they take up to much space. Looking more traditional, maybe
leather. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

Leather is of course very nice. Boyt also makes some very very nice heavy canvas rifle cases. I have a Boyt handgun case that I've been using since about 1996. It is head and shoulders above any other similar case that I've ever seen. It is well worth the time to take a look at Boyt. Here is a link. You will have to cut and paste it as I do not know how to properly include it in this post. www.boytharness.com/inventory.asp?CatId={6D8C1062-2237-46AF-B8B8-67CD1821965C}

Can't help with the case, but I would like to see some pictures of your rifle!

I second the recommendation for a Boyt canvas case.

As far as a good case is concerned, what does it need to do? Protect at the highest level { use a Pelican or Storm}, look good and offer some protection{look at Browning type hardcases} or just carry in your own car or truck{Boyt type canvas cases}. If you determine what the case has to do ,it makes your choice easier. For my long range guns with professional optics and accessories I always use Pelicans cut and fitted to the rifle in question. For casual use always in my control I use Boyt canvas or Eagle nylon. For controlled packing in our Prairie Dog trailer where space is a premium and we are taking lots of guns I use the narrow DoskoSport type cases{they can be packed tightly in the racks and do not mar each other like metal does}. Hope this helps and these do work for me. All my best, Joe.

Hard to beat a Pelican case for thorough protection from hard knocks, H2O, abrasive dust, and airline baggage handlers, but they're as bulky as aluminum hard cases. For a slimmer, more form-fitting hard case, check Kolpin's "Transport" case. Those fleece-lined leather and canvas case look like rust incubators to me.

As Mr. Joe Kent said, exactly what do you want the case for? But anyway, if you want the absolute highest quality and money is little or no object , I can recommend Mr. Marvin Huey at Huey Gun Cases and Accessories | Huey Gun Cases and Accessories specializes in fine gun cases and gun case restoration. We have made cases ranging from oak and leather gun cases, trunk cases, and standard shotguns for musical instruments, presentatio

I agree on the Boyt canvas cases, but it is about $100. Cabela's has a knock off for $50-60.
