WW2 M1 Garand Bayonet | Military Stuff for sale on Beaufort bookoo! is the ad I responded to... now closed of course.... but shows photos.

I think this is an M1 bayonet made by UFH - Union Fork and Hoe - circa 1943? It fots my rifle at least. Looks to be 10 inches. Scabbard is flaming bomb US marked.

I traded a Benchmade Nimravus for it even. Probably the other guy got the better deal but I needed a bayonet.

Looks like it's probably an original 'M1' bayonet...

These were made by several companys..some were long 16 inch bayonets when made by contractors called the '1942' bayonet..the long 16" blade bayonets made by Springfield Armory and Rock Island Armory were called the 1905 bayonet(same basic bayonet as the 1942)..both of the long bayonets were also cut-down to 10-11" and were then M1 bayonets..M1 bayonets were also made as such with the 11" or so blade..and that's what this one looks like to me..an original 'M1' bayonet.

The 1905..1942 and M1 bayonets can also be found as reproductions...comparing these repro's to the real deal will show the new made blades to be definately inferior.

Just looking at your pics..I'm going to say it's the real-deal..but you might do a bit of research just to make for sure.

I own a 'UC' M1 bayonet thats real..and a OL(Onieda Limited) reproduction long bayonet(1905/1942 style)..they are close at casual glance..but the real UC made blade has way better quality grips..and just generally better made appearance....Oddly enough..the reproduction blade fits my Rock Island 1903 and Springfield M1 rifle better than the UC made real blade!

The bayonet appears to be an original uncut 10" made for the M1 Garand. There were a lot of 16" blade bayonets that were cut down to 10". Those are easy to spot because the groove in the center of the blade goes all the way out to the point. They came in a "spear" point and a "beak" point. They are collectible, but I like the original 10" uncut version you have. That said, the sheaths of many 16" bayonets were also cut down to 10". Your sheath appears to be one of those and not an original uncut 10" sheath. So I think you have an original uncut 10" Garand bayonet with a 16" cut to 10" sheath. This is common as stuff got mixed around a lot. These are getting harder to find and yours is probably worth $50-$100 more than you paid for it.
