Need some info on Iver Johnson 1911 please...
Guys,
I don't know nothing about this brand. But I'm looking for a 1911 shooter and I found their "Falcon" model online and it's really attractive to me.
New (or rather NOS), .45 ACP, blued, 4.25" barrel, walnut grips and - I'm sorry - 50% less expensive as the S&W 1911 I like.
Is Iver Johnson a good brand? Anyone maybe has a Falcon?
Is it Made in USA or imported?
Any help would be appreciated

From what I understand they are made in the P.I. by ARMSCOR . If ARMSCOR makes them they guarantee them for life and have a great customer service

I have two Rock Island Armory 1911's I like them and they get good writeups on the 1911 forum. I changed the trigger in each (I like long adjustable triggers) and the grips and changed to stainless grip screws (I have rusty hands). They are good solid shooters and have lifetime guarantees. Armscor makes the RIA.

I looked on the I. J. site but don't the Falcon? Do see snakes, hawks and eagles. I too recently wanted just a shooter for the range/HD and originally wanted the 4.25" commander size since I already had a 5" Gov. I was going to stick with a standard bushing type, but after fussing around, I found a basic mid-size 4" RIA with the reverse bushing for $398.00 OTD. Only have 450 rounds thru it so far of mixed reloads of lswc, ball, hp and no problems. Did change the small military fixed sights for higher profile fixed front and rear and like 'em much better. After taking down the slide and recoil spring several dozen times, the paper clip thing don't bother me any more and completely happy with my little Rock.

If it is the same as the Rock Island Armory, they are fine solid shooters. I bought one about 6 yrs ago, the 3 1/2" compact. I did change sights and fit a beavertail grip safety. Otherwise it is as came. 100% reliable with anything I have run through it, and accuracy is similar to my Springfield 5" gun.

The Armscor guns are marketed under several names.........High Standard and RIA among them. I have two of the RIA guns and would recommend them. The first was a bare-bones milspec 1911, and I liked it so much I went back and bought the Tactical model two days later. I'm well-satisfied with both, but the Tactical model is a favorite! The only things I can find to complain about are the plain stocks (which I replaced) and the wimpy rollmark on the slide.
