Not a trophy Colt just a King Cobra shooter. I wanted to know the year that it was manufactured so I registered on the Colt forum and started reading the stickies. Gotta call the factory for that info and anything past that you must pay for. I was kinda liking the Colt revolver so I saw another in a pawn shop. Knowing nothing about Colt revolvers, I returned to the forum to ask a few questions so I would not overpay, again. Not one reply.
I'm glad to say that I traded the King Cobra today for a sweet little Model 10-5 snub and 6 Ben Franklins. I like Smith & Wesson revolvers and the Smith & Wesson crowd a lot better than Colts. They made high quality DA revolvers, nobody can dispute that but man they are a grumpy crowd of folks. I guess they are mad about how much one must pay to join the club.
I write this to say thanks to all who willingly provide information to those of use who possess little knowledge about the revolvers that we are hooked on.
You can find Colt and Winchester serial numbers and dates issued at ProofHouse.com, a free site.
As for the Colt Forum, they are not nearly as active and do take a bit of time to answer. My primary passion is S&W revolvers, but a few Colts are sharing the safe with the Springfield MA toys.

Sir, you did well. King Cobras seem to go for around $700-$800 lately, so you basically got your Model 10 snubbie for $200, maybe less. And frankly, King Cobras are not Colt's best work (voice of experience).
