Default The 1911 pistol - more versatile than you might think!

So I'm entertaining some "gunny" guests, and one of 'em says "Do you have an opener for this Heineken?"

"Sure." I said. Opening the gun safe, I pulled out my (verified unloaded) Colt, and took care of the problem.

Helpful hint for future emergencies!

John

P.S. Every REAL 1911 should have a lanyard loop. Jeff Cooper said so!

Ok but not ideal. 1st you need a lanyard loop on your 1911. 2nd you need to use the mag, which is not so strong.

Here's a better one. Russian Makarov

If you can afford 'up-town beer' spring for an opener.

Didn't the Israelis put a bottle-opener on the Galil?

Yes, the bipod on the ARM worked well, I understand. But the Galil just barely balances well without all that junk hanging from the barrel. With it? No way.

Dangit, I've been use my 22 to open me beers. I can open a beer at 100 yards, just have to be careful of the glass shards.

If you have the good taste to own a Colt, why in the world would you drink moose urine?

I have honed a fine edge on the front edge of my 1911 slide. When released it will shear the top off of a beer bottle cleaning every time.

Of course, I'm a professional so please don't try this at home!!!

Hi:
A question from a "Wimp": wouldn't it be easier to purchase Beer with "Twist Caps"?

They've been making Heineken in bottles the same way since Caesar was a road guard, and I'm a traditionalist. My pappy liked his Heinies that way, and I do too! Besides, there's something satisfying about hauling out the Colt and snapping that cap off... it's all in the wrist. Just the thing to impress the folks at a barbeque!

I feel so mundane, using the cap lifter on a Swiss Army knife... but I won't scratch any guns that way.

Still, I must say, I was impresssed with the inventive ways shown.
