I have " sort of " gone to the Dark Side ( WC GP100 )
Geez, Now I have gone and done it , it wasn't bad enough I decided to buy a Wiley Clapp GP100 3" SS but then like Lay's potato chips one isn't enough I had to go and buy another Wiley Clapp GP100 3" in Blue Matte , oh well some fun shooting for me

I like that blue one.
I've always been a sucker for blued guns.
No worries...
There's lots'a Ruger lovers on this forum. Most of us will even admit it freely.

Did you find it online or in a shop? I have yet to actually hold one of those, but they look really nice. The only part of my SP101 that I did not like was the trigger; compared to my Smith triggers, it was too long and had a rather weak reset.

Actually I got them both on Gun Broker for pretty dang good pricing ( buy out) not auction. They are really sweet and balanced with the 3" barrel. The trigger SA is very crisp about 3.5-4 lbs and DA is really very good as well like they come with trigger work already done, so very nice IMO.

Very nice sixguns! Congrats!
Rugers GP100 is the only current production revolver being made with everything you need in a revolver and nothing you don't.
The 3 inch variant is particularly well balanced and asthetically pleasing too. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI

Nice. Reminds me of my 1980 stainless Speed Six, bought the same year it was made. It was my first handgun. Still have it.

I was also thinking it looks like a speed-six-- there's sure nothing wrong with that! I wouldn't mind one of those old speedies but they probably go for more than a new Clapp GP-100.

Buying those lowly Rugers can be habit forming and downright addicting. I hate to see it.
Just send one or both to me and I will keep them safe for the next 20 or 30 years while you recover from your addiction.
By the way how is the trigger pull on the WC. I have been close to buying one myself, but I have not found one at a good enough price yet. I may have to buy one anyway. I suspect it is one of the best full size .357 magnums in three inch on the market today. I have the SS GP-100 in three inch with fixed sights and I like it a lot, but the WC with the adjustable sights looks real nice.

I have to say the WC GP is an excellent revolver. The WC pushed my Lou Horton 2.5" 686 to the back of the vault.

Man I'm jealous! Those Wiley Clapp GP100's are sweet. I've only personally seen one since they were released and it sold the same day after my local gun shop put it under the display case.
I was able to dry fire that one and have to say it was smooth. When I hear others talk about how great the triggers are, it's the truth.
You are really lucky. As these are limited in production with only a run of 2,500 stainless and 2,500 blued, you were able to snag two. I've yet to see a blued version in person. Thanks for sharing!

Rugers are ok too. I have ruger revolvers since the mid 70's without any problems. The only problem with rugers are there is no 1800's history about them but there awesome revolvers too.
It's all the Colts I had problems with so far. This is what kept me close to the rugers till now I got into the s&w revolvers.

GP100s are terrific handguns, and the WCs are particularly nice. I have a tricked out non-WC 6" GP100 and it is a beautifully-made and deadly accurate firearm. Your pair sure look like winners. I love S&Ws and I love Ruger GP100s. Room enough in the safe for both!

Those are very nice revolvers you have there! My preference leans toward the stainless steel model. If a person can't enjoy Smith & Wesson revolvers and also the GP100, something is wrong!

Have you ever met Wiley Clapp? He has pretty large hands, and I think that's probably why the WC special has the long GP-100 grip.
I think the shorter grip once offered on three-inch barrels would be better for most shooters.

No I have not. I have medium sized hands and it fits me perfect, no complaints here.

I don't blame you one bit. They are good looking guns, saw both of them in a shop a few weeks back and if i had the money i would have gotten one, but that leads to the other problem I couldnt decide on a finish.

Nice, looks like the perfect CC six-gun. Maybe not as fancy as a 686 but no stupid lock. Well at least not one that matters.

Thanks, I went to the shooting range yesterday and these WC are so balanced and shoot so sweet, especially the SS one has such awesome sights and it is super accurate. Shooting .38's are great but with the .357 magnum loads it really shows its stuff very fun to shoot. I recommend highly this model.

Price Check
Would like to hear what some are paying for these WC GP-100s. I have a chance to get one for $675 out the door. It is a 3" SS WC brand new. Since I am not in a hurry I would prefer not to pay any more than I have to in order to get one.

I paid $700 for the SS and $640 for the Matte Blue so it sounds like a good deal to me. They are only going to get more expensive as the supply gets less.

I shoots a little off with WC's at 25yrds, but it's in there with magnum loads. Don't read too far into that.

The compact grips found on the older fixed sight guns are available again from Ruger. These are the ones that use the smaller inserts from the SP101. Just an FYI.
This is good news for those who have GP's with the full size all rubber grips, but they are also smaller than the grips on the WC.
Here is the best picture comparison of the grips that I have found, Not my guns.

I like the brass bead front sight of the Blackened model, but the blasted stainless finish of the SS model.....
I looked online for replacement sights, thinking that I could buy the Stainless model and swap the fiber optic sight (hate those) out for the brass bead sight.....but cannot find that sight ANYwhere?
For those who have the blackened model....how has the finish held up over time?
Thanks!
