....or anything else for that matter. The front cover of my Mini-14 manual clearly states .223 (5.56 mm) Caliber. Show me a blown Mini-14 that was caused by using 5.56.
I sold both my original blued Mini-14 and 1991 vintage Colt Lightweight Sporter carbine for darn near 4X what I originally paid because they were so-called 'Pre-Ban'.
Hard to tell which was more inaccurate. Both averaged 4in groups at 100yds with surplus ball ammo from a rest.
While mine isn't a benchrest target rifle, it will keep 100 yard groups inside 2". A trigger job is a great help.Yeah, I take my Mini-14 out every now and then and "pattern" it. You certainly wouldn't call them groups.
I never found out what he did to it, but he was an incurable tinkerer.
I have little respect for this company for mislabeling it!
It just bothers me that cartridge designations of all things are made to cause ambiguity and confusion. A famous example, "Pass me the ammunition for my M1." Now are you going to get something that looks like a 30-06 or a straight walled case that looks like it belongs in a revolver? I know that's the military for ya, but jeepers creepers. Is it any wonder that people are confused?
