Need a little help on pricing a 1911
I am looking at a Colt 1911 that was built in 1918. It is a blued finish and has about 90% left. All original except the magazine which is WWII.
What do you think a fair buy price would be for this gun?
I appreciate your help on this.

There was such a gun posted on "armslist" about +/-two weeks ago for $450.
I believe the email addy was from Africa & there was shortly a warning about attempted fraud.
Could you be talking about the same gun?
If you truly need a firm estimate, more info is needed, including good pictures.

Thanks but no, it's not on the internet. A fellow dealer has it and I have seen it already.
Just need an estimate on a decent price on a 90% 1918 built 1911 in blue. All original except the magazine.
The guy is asking $2500. I think that that is high for one with the wrong magazine as the original lanyard bottom, two tone mags go for several hundred.

FYI, the loop was discontinued in 1916 so a 1918 mag would not have the loop. lee

Any idea what I should offer Lee?
I don't have any reference material for a true 1911 except the net and prices are all over the place.

FWIW there is a LGS that has similar one at $2500 (down from $3500) - no takers yet - I'm not too interested either.

A 1918 US Property Colt that is blued is $2500 to $3500 depending on condition. If it is a Parkerized finish the price is $1000 to $1500 depending on condition. 1918 Colt 1911s were originally built as brite blue guns. When they went through an arsenal rebuild and most of the WW I guns were rebuilt, the guns were Parkerized.
I was involved with an estate sale of a 1918 Colt US Property. It was quite a learning experience. I found out I would never pay a real "Colt" estimated value.
