Colt Woodsman Magazines
I am striking out try to find magazines for my pre-Woodsman. I already have a WTB posting for now. I found some good information on the Colt forum. And I have seen reports about bad results with aftermarket mags.
Does anyone know of a possible source for WM magazines? Or another place to post a want ad? A source for springs too. Someone said Wolff but I can't find anything on their website.
Tips would be welcomed about tuning up the magazine I do have.

I found one mag on Ebay and one on Gunbroker, both for my pre-war Woodsman. Both were extremely expensive at over $100 apiece. Be sure that they are marked "Colt .22 LR" on the mag bottom. Triple K mags are useless and belong at the bottom of the gargler , TBowl, in my opinion. The good Woodsman mags have very strong springs. My wife uses a repro Luger loading tool to move the follower knob down when she loads the WM magazine. Good luck on your quest to find magazines.

You have verified what I heard, that the correct magazines in good condition are very expensive. I'd would bear the cost if I was assured of quality. I'd want a money back guarantee.
I just disassembled and soaked mine in Hoppe's #9 and it seems to be smoother. A decent amount of carbon came out and that is what would be expected. Perhaps it will work properly now.
Charlie if you happen to hear of or see any 1st generation magazines or articles about them please send me a PM

Being a great fan of the Colt Woodsman, I have used and carried one for decades now. Original magazines do show now and again, but the 2 tone models prices are extremely high. Years ago in Shotgun news, was a company that built replacement magazines for just about any pistol made. This company had a large ad in every issue in the 1980's. IIRC the company was called Forrest Industries, but don't bet anything of value on my memory. I bought 5 or 6 of these magazines and they were wonderful. I actually preferred them to the originals. I only have a few of them left, and use them exclusively, keeping my originals in the safe. I wish some member here has an old copy of Shotgun News, and can look up the old ad. IIRC I paid $16 apiece for the magazines.
