I can see where that would be a handy gun to have if you had no trigger finger! Otherwise, not so much. Pretty scary stuff there.

Scary - but until I know there wasn't a shade-tree gunsmith inside there &/or it wasn't abused, I'll hold judgement. From the looks of that pistol, I don't think it was well maintained.

How many pistols turned up with that particular issue?
You would think there would be multiple incidents reported if it was a manufacturing defect.
Like when the .40 Shield tends to explode in the shooter's hand for no apparent reason that anyone wants to take any responsibilty for.

I was not insulting the OP.
Two definitions of that term!
a combination of words that have opposite or very different meanings
: a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness);

This story is about a year old. How many pistols turned up like that? Many! I think they recalled 100,000 pistols. Most were issued to the Brazilian police. Going by Taurus quality this was not a shady tree gunsmith

Taurus has been battling their reputation for the 35years or so that I've been involved in firearms. All I can say is, I had an M85 snub that had to go back to the factory for warranty work. The same can be said for my M686-2 & a Ruger MK .22 auto. From my personal experience, the guns I've owned from Taurus has not been any different than the other major firearm manufacturers. From what I understand, the new CEO is really making some changes - especially in their Customer Service, which probably needed it.

The definition you supply does pertain to the word oxymoron, however, I'm unable to find a definition for ozymoron, let alone find it in a dictionary.

I would imagine any striker fired firearm could be made to do that.
Not a Taurus fan but it's some lame internet video.

There was multiple incidents. Brazilian police sent back 98,000 Taurus 24/7 40 cal handguns because there were random discharges.

Apparently, several thousand were recalled. I would rather take my chances with my .40 Shield that "tends to explode" than that particular Taurus. I have over 500 rounds through it so far without any incident. I also don't use reloaded & possibly over charged ammo, which seems to be the cause of quite a few of these failures.

I just hope that no one got hurt in the process of discovering that defect.

About three years ago I picked up a Taurus M605 at the gun show, and dropped it off at the gunsmith on the way home. He did a cleaning (dirty from the factory), and inspection. It has been totally flawless - more so than my M640-1, which has caused me some problems. I'm not a big Taurus fan, but bashing the name hasn't hurt them at all.

A "ozymoron" is quite clearly a moron from OZ. Or possibly a Ozzie Osburn wannabee.
