I bought a BRNO #1 and #2 at an estate sale this year. They belonged to a benchrest shooter. He had the number 2 set up for benchrest shooting. It had an aluminum plate screwed into the front sling swivel stud hole. I was able to get the two correct swivels for it when I bought the gun. The number 1 was made in 1950 and the number 2 was imported in 1987.
The previous owner had modified the triggers and sears on both guns. I replaced the sear on the number 2 with an adjustable one from DIP. I also replaced the striker springs in both as well as a lighter trigger spring in number 2.
Both guns had problems due to his modifying the internals. The model 2 would fire 2 or 3 times, then have a light primer strike and not fire again. When the safety was manually disengaged to take a shot, the trigger would engage.
This happened with both guns. You had to very carefully push the safety off so the gun would not fire. I was able to fix the number 2 but have not fixed the number 1 yet. It needs a new sear.
The modifications that were made were ok for benchrest shooting but not for hunting/plinking. Both triggers were very smooth and light. The triggers were both breaking at a little over a pound with no creep.
I like both rifles. They are shooters. They have been taken care of during their lifetime. The bolts are very smooth and the triggers are very nice.
Both are wearing Leupold 6x18's.
Here are some pics of the number 1. It is the standard model.
