38 special Top Break Brand Question?
Hello all,
I got "kinda" "sorta" stuck on the 38 special / 357 magnum revolvers. I was wondering if anyone knows or if there is such a thing as an inexpensive top break 38 special revolver that a fellow could, buy, shoot, and enjoy without breaking the bank?
Let me hear from you. I know this is an obscurantist question, but then again I am just that kind of a guy!!!! LOL!!!
Thoughts??

You might be able to find a second hand Uberti. They make 3 different models of top breaks, chambered in 45 Colt, 44 Russian, 44-40 and 38 special. barrel lengths from 7 to 3 1/2 inches, and they look very nice. Only problem is they list new for $1,079...
hence the used market might yield something.
Not a whole lot (if any) older/cheaper top breaks were chambered in 38 special. Good luck ,
Darn it, now you done went and flung a craving on me for one, going to start looking around...like I need another 38 special!

Most top-break 38s are going to be 38 S&W, not 38 Special. The only one that I actually know of is the Laramie. Beretta's copy of the Smith #3 .44 single action.
And it ain't nowheres near CHEAP.
EAA sells an inexpensive hand-ejector type 38 special, and the folks I know that have owned one tell me it's pretty good. Kinda ugly, to my eye, but then, pretty is as pretty does.

The Uberti's are also copies of the #3 S&W and though pricey they are top break and 38 special.

I believe Beretta bought Uberti, so technically Ubertis are Berettas.

Yes, The Laramie is now a Uberti produckt. (If it was'nt before). I do not like that revolver.
At first glance it looks like a New Model 3. But it is more a combination of the Schofield and the Russian. Only the grip looks like the New Model 3. By my knoledge there is only one modern Russian madeTopBreak revolver.
I have not seen it on the market. I do know that Jansz is busy to build a .357 magnum Top Break revolver on basis of the Webley MK VI. I have seen the castings for it. I do not think that that or the Russian revolver comes cheap.
But, what is the problem? There are a lot of cheap .357 magnum revolvers out there. Rossi for example and there is even a Turkisch faxtory who makes clones of the 686. Look and you will find. Succes.
