Default A different Wesson

Picked this up yesterday, my father had one WAY back when, thought I'd get one for myself, introducing my 8 5/8" Dan Wesson Model 15 in .357 Magnum/.38 Special, it's got the Recessed Cylinder Bores, came with a Pachmayr grip, and I must say, the trigger.. oh that trigger!!!!!

Got all that ammo with it and another 50 rounds not shown, most is Reloads. I do plan on later on down the road, purchasing a 4" Barrel for this so I can carry it easier. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but was told it is a dang accurate weapon!!

She's got some Patina, but I got it as a Shooter, not a Collector piece.

For those that want to know, I traded a NIB Remington 700 ADL Camo in 7mmRM I purchased for $297 straight across for it.

Bigblue79:

Welcome to the Forum. I think you got a great deal on your Dan Wesson. Extra barrels are available, but can be pricey. I've always wanted one, but have never been able to find one in my price range. A couple of things: 1) if you haven't addressed the rust, what you call "patina", I would. I'd suggest liberal applications of light gun oil, or penetrating oil, and scrubbing with an old tooth brush and rags to see what will come off easily. Repeat as needed, and I think you'll be surprised and pleased with the way the piece looks. Follow this with an application of paste wax (I use whatever car wax is in my garage), and you should be good to go. 2) unless you really know the reloader, I would not recommend shooting the reloaded ammo you acquired in your deal. Trade it, sell it, or pull the projectiles, dump the powder, and reload the rounds yourself, but I wouldn't shoot them. The only reloads I shoot are the ones I made myself.

Best of luck,

Dave

I second Dave's advice on the reloaded ammo. The DW's are nice shooting and very accurate revolvers. Make sure you get the take down tool to remove the barrel and stocks. I use an automotive type feeler gauge to set the cylinder gap. I'm sure you will be quite happy with it.

Nice purchase and bet you'll enjoy it. My father-in-law had one but it got stolen. He replaced it with a 586 so it came out well for him.
A dealer here had the pistol pack at a reasonable price. I waited too long and now it's gone.
I have a friend that has both .357 and .44 mag models. Rick loves them and has taken several deer with the 44.
I too suggest you deal with the rust now and luck with that.
