Default Walther PPS's

Has anyone played with these babies? Holy cow! Now I am rethinking my Shield/XDs tie...the only the drawback is the mag release though. Only gotten to shoot it once since it's my buddies and he let me borrow it for a time, but does anyone have any thoughts on the 3 of these guns as for a CCW? All 9mm btw.

I carry a shield some and a LW commander some. I have a good friend who has the PPS. I have shot it and it is a great, accurate gun. if I didn't have the other two I would be carrying a PPS. lee

2 plus years with a 9mm PPS on my hip using 8 round magazines to fit my pinky on the grip. The mag release is second nature just a down swipe of your shooting thumb and it's released. You have to adjust grip some but I can do it one handed now. It is the best deep cover gun out there in my opinion. German tolerances, Italian magazines, shoots accurate and is as slim as it gets. Also in a blackhawk number 5 IWB holster for 18 bucks and it has never even thought about moving and I can pop it on and off easily. It's sitting next to me right now and the weight and size make it a 24/7 carry winner. Just my .02 after 2 years of having it on me.

I actually shot the PPS and Shield 9mm today. I wanted to like the PPS more, but there were some sharp edges on the bottom of the mag release paddle and the Shield's grip seemed to fill my hand better. Both shot pretty well for me (I was doing more self defense type shooting than target shooting) and didn't have a lot of difference trigger feel wise or recoil wise. I will try the XD-S in 9mm next before I buy. Here, the Shields run $370 brand new at the LGS and I can get mags for $28. PPS mags are around the same price for me, but the gun is almost $200 more. Haven't priced out the XD-S yet.

I liked mine. Great pistol, great ergos, accurate, reliable. My only problem was with the paddle release. Due to the thin grips every time I fired it I would engage the mag release. I own full size HKs with this same exact features and don't have that problem. Too bad otherwise it would have been an awesome gun

My choices were the Shield or the PPS. I found a Shield first.
Still not warming up yet to the Shield.
This was the beginning of 2014, and both models were hard to come by. The Shield was less expensive then the PPS, but the Shield was in stock and the PPS was not.
I got to shoot a friends' PPS, The PPS will be my next purchase.
Worth mentioning, i also have a PPQ, so the PPS will keep me in the WAlther family.
If I get a chance to try out the new Walther CCP, I might add that one to mix too.

I have a PPS 9mm it is a great gun. The mag release is a great feature, it works great is really ambidextrous, and cannot be hit while the gun is holstered. It is the best of the compact 9mm's. IMHO. Ed

I have a Walther P99, first gen. The mag release is very natural once you get used to it.

As to those three, personally, I like the XDs.
