Keep the S&W. The ruger is clunky....

If you can, shoot the SP 101 first and see what you think.
If you like it, go for it. Model 19's are getting hard to find!

No way could you let the 19 go. But the SP is a classic as well. I would go for option #4 - get them both.

Little confused here! The Wiley Clapp model is a 6 shot GP medium frame model, not the smaller frame 5 shot SP.
Perhaps we should go back to Square One and clarify?

I'd keep the 19 but we're on a S&W board besides. I did get rid of my Ruger DAs and Colts because I like S&Ws better. I never really could get used to cylinder latch on either among other things.
I do agree that both would be even better if you can swing that too. Otherwise I'm voting on the 19.

I readily admit that Ruger makes some fine guns. But I wouldn't trade a S&W for one.

The M19 is definitely a "neater" gun in many senses of that word. I have a Security Six (picture forthcoming) snub that I love, even with the huge target grips I put on it (I have the original stocks, too), but I like my Model 19 snub better.

No deal. For me any k frame makes an ideal ccw. I sold my SP101 to fund a snub model 66 and haven't had any regrets.

I have to both and would loose the SP 101 first If I had to choose.
Just saw the Wiley on the post.
So is it a GP 100 or SP 101?
Either way I vote for a K frame 3 inch or 2 1/2 over any Ruger.
The old Security Six 2 1/2 would be nicer than either GP 100 or SP 101 in my opinion.

I wouldn't trade a S&W for a Ruger. I'd buy the ruger for ccw carry. My ruger security six in 357 has shot my stout 357 mag loads in a steady diet.
I wouldn't do that in my Smith's. Plus there's no screws in the ruger.
I don't like to see any gun get a bad rap. They all are different and have there limits some more than others.
I like all brands.

I haven't been in love with 3" models, but thats just me....The Sp is a beast though, but again not worth a Smith.

The security six 2 3/4" or 3" barreled 357 is a good ccw knock around gun.

Ruger speed six blue or ss- Great, GP 100 or sp 101- they do not feel right to me, I tried to pawn one off on my wife an she said NO. It would be very difficult for me to give a smith snub unles it was for 2 smith snubs!! Be Safe,

While I believe Ruger makes some fine guns and I have owned a few I now have way more Smiths and would keep the 19.

I have no problems trading a Smith for a Ruger, depending, of course, on the models being traded.
However, older revolvers in nice shape are getting harder and harder to find, while the SP101 is going to be here for a while. I wouldn't trade.
And I'm a devout SP101 fan! I've had a couple in my carry rotation, I'm just "in between" them right now. My last one I traded for a Super Redhawk snub in .44, it was an offer I couldn't refuse.

Thank you gents for the input. A friend has been interested in buying my 19 for a while now, and he just got the Ruger, thus my inquiry. I guess I will sell it to him outright if he wants, and put the $ into something else.
