I had one and foolishly sold it...Mine was a Postal Meter with a Rock-Ola barrel, made in '43. Even a decent shooter!

Enjoy it! They are great to shoot!

Mine's an Inland, in original G.I. furniture. Fun to shoot, but a little expensive.

I have 2 I.B.M.'s, one with a T-3 Night Scope (early infer red) with the storage trunk and some manuals. The unscoped is one of my go to guns for home protection as the wife can handle it well. Ivan

I've got an IBM, all original, couple of rework stamps on the stock from being sent back to the armory before the war was over. Even got a bayonet to go with it . . . Not something I shoot regularly because of the cost, but it's fun to plink with when I think about it.

I used to have a Winchester and foolishly sold it.

I would imagine .30 carbine is not expensive to reload.

I have a Winchester service grade, nice little rifle. A couple years ago or whenever CMP sold the LC ammo still in the original ammo cans, I believe 1350 rounds, I bought a can. Wasn't cheap but I haven't shot any of it yet.

Carbines are great fun! I have 3. A Quality Hardware, an Underwood(high wood) and an IBM. Heck. I shoot mine. Wife says they won't fit in the casket with me.
Cheap to reload. I use a cast gas checked 110 gr. bullet pushed by #2400 powder.

Would love to understand a bit about the M1 Carbine firing pin mechanism. I've heard that it is a 'floating' pin and thus is subject to unintended discharge when chambering a round. I can't believe that this is true however, I did experience a slight mark on the primers of my M1 (now long gone) when I checked them to see if, indeed, the firing pin touched when I let the slide slam forward to chamber a round. Any inputs would be of interest even though I no longer own one.

Me too......Could be an internet myth....BTW I use WW SR primers in my carbines and WW LR in my garands.

I'm a big fan of the carbine and have two. One Inland just like Uncle Sam issued them.
The other was a pretty beat up Standard Products that I ended up rebarreling. I turned it into my Zombie Rifle.

Vrichard: Nice rifle. I like the early flip rear sight and the type 1 barrel band.
