Wish list guns that would make you go to a new caliber ...
I've consolidated my revolvers and long guns down to .22, .38/.357, .44, and 7.62x39, but Boy Howdy I saw something that is tempting enough to contemplate getting back into .223/5.56. The Tavor Bullpup by IWI is a rather interesting firearm ... it comes in 16.5" and 18" barrel configurations (as well as several caliber conversions), and is roughly the size of an average SBR. Not cheap at ~$1,700, but it looks to be an excellent close quarters fighting rifle.
After divesting myself of two ARs and 2,000 rounds of .223 during last year's panic, I never envisioned considering the caliber again. The Tavor is an expensive temptation ...

A 3" 44 Special. A 696 would do.
Like you I'm down to just a few calibers. So it would take a major firearm production miracle.

Bare bones collection, I would have to get a 686 2.5" again, a 1911, 12g, a 629, and a Henry in the .44 mag, and a .308 of some sort.

Kel-Tec RFB in 260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmoor. 260 might be better as that would probably feed from a standard FAL mag.

I don't load for 500 or 460 but if Santa should drop one or both revolvers at the house next month I would spring for the dies.

That would be a Browning High Power in 9mm. I do have one 9mm I don't shoot and dies for them so not exactly a new caliber. I've wanted one for ages but have never taken the plunge before. Don't really have money to spend on one right now but am dreaming here anyway.

I've often thought about loading for the .41 caliber, it just seems like a waste since I already load for 44spl. But If I walked into one of the 3" versions for say, $500, then I'd bite the bullet!

I started downsizing about two years ago. The good news is I got down from twenty-one calibers to sixteen. The bad news is I am back up to eighteen calibers. The worse news is I have eight more guns than when I started downsizing two years ago.

Saying you have an issue is the first step. You're among friends here, pal.

A PMR 30 got me into 22 magnum. Not much of a commitment though because I can flip the gun and at least get my money back. Plus no investment in reloading stuff needed. But I have a fondness for the cartridge now and might get a varmint rifle in same.
Trying to find something interesting enough to get me into 9 mm at the moment. None of the usual polymer wonders is all that exciting. Local dealer has a 986, but its price is a show stopper at the moment. Somebody talk me into it.
If someone gave me a AutoOrdinance Tommygun SBR, I'd spring for the stamp and now I'm into 45 ACP.

Well, I got my Browning Hi-Power that moved me into 9mm, got one or two others as well (6906, SIG SP-2022) but I have always had (always = 20 years or so) a NIB 5903 SSV. It's hard for me to say my recently acquired M25-5 moved me into .45 Colt because that's my cowboy action shooting caliber. When I saw the Tavor I was already into an M4-type Bushmaster and a Remington 700 ADL so that's not a new caliber for me either BUT WOW!!! What a great gun. I have a fun picture of one I think I'll upload.
One caliber eludes me that I care about, maybe two. 10mm is tempting. But a friend of mine has a Colt 1911 in .38 Super that at one time belonged to Rob Leatham, I think that's what he told me - THAT gun could get me into a new caliber!

I think I have all the major calibers covered. I've gone through the consolidation a few times only to find myself buying the same caliber later, usually because the price was to good to pass up. Ives stopped doing that. Right now the only thing I'd like in a different caliber would be some kind of a thumper. 375 H&H, 4570, 9.2x64.....
I'd also like the Tavor

Nope.
Got out of the 9mm and 5.56 NATO game a couple years ago and not going back!
Sold 4 pistols, 3 rifles, 150 magazines and 5000 rounds of ammo.
I am still trying (albeit with limited success) to downsize the total number of guns currently owned.
I'm young - I'll get there...

A 1911-A1 or Commander in .38 Super might make me go there.

Not happening for me. I still can't believe I went .45 Colt (2 guns+ammo) after getting down to 4 pistol calibers, 2 rifle and 12 ga (and .22lr long and short guns). I sometimes miss AK's, SKS's, .22mag pistols, .270, 30-06, 30-30 and small gauge shotguns, but not enough to add back. Don't get me started on the .380acp "discussion" either as that is a "hate-hate" relationship. Joe

A while back, I gave some thought to buying a 17 cal rifle.
They had a couple of a lefthanded Savages for sale.
And they had some toolbox sized boxes of ammo.
So I guess the availability of ammo would have more effect on me than just a new caliber.
I am a 22 LR-Mag, 38-357, 44 Spec- Mag type of a guy.
I do have a 9 or 2, a Glock in 40 and a 1955.

The right Colt 1911 Series 70 would get me back into .45 ACP!

If I saw a Hammerli free rifle, one of the single shot versions of the K 31, I might be tempted to load the 7.5 Swiss cartridge.

If Ruger made a double in 460 WM or even 458 Lott I'd save the #1 Tropical in 458 WinMag for beginners.
