Daniel Defense builds a terrific rifle. In AR aficionado land, they're reputation is excellent.

I have a DD M4gery that is actually better than my 2 Colt Defense Industries M-4s. I did no modifications other than adding a 1x4 loopy scope.

My brother and sister-in-law both have Daniel Defense rifles in .300 Blackout. My brother swears by his and my sister-in-law dropped four deer with hers this last year. He is also considering buying a Mk-18 SBR. BTW, my brother is one of the department armorers along with being a patrol deputy so I would trust his judgement regarding them.
Marshal 357, if you want, I'll ask him if it's ok to give you his e-mail address and you can ask him about them.

Solidly built, accurate and reliable.
I have two. Both 16" Carbines.

OP, what's your intended use? The V11 Pro is built more toward race gun specs -- 18" barrel, rifle length gas system, Geissele 3 gun trigger, etc. Fine rifle for a specific purpose, but might not be ideal depending on your needs...
As to upgrades, this wouldn't apply to the V11 Pro, but the mil-spec triggers in general are average at best and do well with a touch of informed smoothing or replacement. The A2 grips, too, feel a little off-angle compared to more current styles and weapon manipulation techniques, but Daniel Defense does have new ones that perhaps cure this.
Otherwise, very little in the way of upgrades are needed to my way of thinking, if you choose (or custom build) a DD rifle to your needs; a smoother trigger pull, grip of choice, and perhaps an optic (if that counts as an upgrade), and you're good to go.

I purchased a DDM4V3 in the fall of 2011. I have changed out some furniture, changed to a Geissele SSA trigger and added a Lantac break. Nothing else has been changed. I have about 5k rounds through it with no problems or issues. Solid rifle.
