Picked one up today, apparently this caliber in this model rifle is hard to find as it is some kind of distributor/salesperson exclusive or something. I posted over on the Ruger forum but have not heard or found much information on the RAP in this caliber. Ruger does not list it on their website.

Never owned a .25-06 but have always had an interest in the caliber; I already picked up some used dies at a pawn shop on the cheap that are waiting to be set up on the vintage Lee Turret. Good affordable way to get into the caliber, for me anyways.

Does anyone shoot/have opinions on the Ruger American Predator series? I've heard mostly good things about the American series in general. I'm neither a diehard hunter nor long distance shooter so the rifle's limitations are fine for my purposes. Seems like a solid little rifle that handles well for the price point. Now to mount a scope and take it to the range...

The 25-06 is an awesome caliber because it shoots very flat and is excellent for hunting up to Mule Deer sized animals. It's one of my favorite rounds and I own two rifles in that caliber.

25-06 is a great long range chambering. Looks like a great purchase and hope is shoots great. I love 100 grain bullets in 25 caliber for deer sized game. Give us a report on that first trip to the range with the scope. Are you going with a "larger" power scope? Appears the 4.5 - 14 scopes have become a very popular "size".

Planning to just throw an old 3-9X40 Nikon on the rifle to sight it in and get the feel for how she shoots, but there may be an upgrade in my future depending on how that goes :D. Excited to take it out and shoot it but with work and some recent car trouble that may be later rather than sooner.

I am also looking forward to reloading for the caliber, aside from the occasional .308 I haven't reloaded rifle rounds in quite some time.
