Default "Cruzin Piece"

I have several center fire 22 & 243 Varment guns. At the time I
was doing a little farming on a little hard-scrabble place 6 miles
from home. Groundhogs were eating me out of house and home.
My wife bought me Ruger#3, 223 for carry gun to shot g-hogs
while engaged in daily chores. At that time I had a K-4 scope on
It. It was the perfect tractor and sneak around gun for varments.
When I quit farming I put k-10 on it. Have shot many g-hogs at
300yds with this rig. I am so lazy anymore I use it more than my
fancy BAs. It's short, light and accurate.

I have two "Stalking" ground hog rifles. 1) A Ruger#1 in 218 Bee, furthest 1 shot kill with this gun is 165 yards. Somewhere I have a 100 yard group from this gun .55" offhand! I had a Bench Rest shooter tell me I might learn how to shoot someday! 2) A pre 1962 Savage 340 in 22 Hornet, Can't remember all the longer shots but one of the most memorable is: Oldest son home on leave, youngest son still in High School, we at dad's farm in Coshocton county(Ohio) and stalking a hillside. I got a offhand shot at 125-130 yards. Perfect head shot, but he fell back in the hole, and the boys made a rule on the spot "No body, No kill!" I still beat both of them combined!

I have lots of varmint rifles, but there is something special about a rifle you can just pick up and go for a walk with! Ivan

I love that no3, reminds of those 'rook' rifles used by the Aussies.
