Hello fellow board members and collectors – Some of you know I collect Vietnam War stuff -
This super interesting item was recently available via a collector friend –
Of course I had to added it to my collection –
RPG-2 Rocket propelled grenade or B-40 for Bazooka 40mm in Vietnam –
In fantastic condition with the fiberglass heat shield sometime seen with the bamboo shield -
A basic weapon that is ubiquitous in all conflicts -
The vet that brought it back was with the VAL-4 Blackpony – Light attack squadron 4 - They often work in support of SEAL operations in Vietnam amongst other support roles with the brown water navy –
Based at Binh Thuy air base near Can Tho - The OV-10 Broncos were used –
The vet Jerald Taylor was an ATN3 and a “Plankowner” – Aviation electronics technician navigation – Petty officer third class -
The RPG is Chinese made but it also has the NVA property mark – Number 1 inside star –
Link to the Blackpony –
Light Attack Squadron Four History
Unfortunately – Jerald Taylor passed away in the early 90s – RIP –
If you have any details to add regarding the VAL-4 or brown water navy - Please do so we can all enjoy -
I can’t wait to read your comments since we have so many VN vets on the board -
War trophy documentations -
Jerald Taylor -
At work -
Unwrapping Broncos at Vung Tau -
At play –
The ubiquitous “PBR” –
