Congrats on your new "baby".
Should be real fun to let loose at the range. You know you got to post a range report though.

I held the real one in 308 belt fed with the box mag. Full auto. My lgs had one. I'm not sure of the model number. He was nice enough to let me fire a full auto m14. Loved it.

Cooool!
That thing is so rambunctious and rowdy looking .... in a semi-refined way. Cooool!
The visual of that "pig" made a number of things flash across my mind:
1. "That'll do pig." From the movie, Babe.
2. Prairie dog problem?
3. Spray ........... and the other guy prays.
4. I hope momma don't know about that.
Did I say Cooool?

So they replaced it with something heavier, the M240. Thank goodness this tool has become available. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_48_machine_gun
I'm quite liking this concept. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UKM-2000

Very nice!
I was a gunner's mate on a DDG, and that was one of our favorite things to play with!

There can't be too many of those in circulation available to us mere mortals in the 'civilian' market. NICE!

That mount is fine for display purposes, but the only way to fire that baby is from the hip - don't worry about the weight, once you get her running she will hold herself up...believe me I know.

Brings back a lot of memories for me too. I spent quite a bit of time with one of those back in the early 70s.
Great fun to shoot, but that pig has a big appetite. Feeding it is gonna get real expensive.

How does one even find one of these? Let alone buy it? Who sells them?
I changed out out a lot of barrels on mine back in the day.

Well, this was advertised on subguns.com. The seller turned out to be eight miles from me. That's when things got real. As it turned out I knew the gentleman from over a decade ago when I worked behind the counter at a local gun store as a college summer job. He was a regular customer and a scrutinizing collector with a budget larger than most. He was a good guy back then, and still is. I'm not one of those people that's comfortable sending transferable MG money across state lines to a complete stranger, so I viewed this acquisition as a once in a life time opportunity.
When I picked up the piece yesterday he confessed he never shot it. He had another one set up as an E3 that had been rebuilt and refinished, which he did use. There's really no finish missing anywhere on the E1 I bought, not even on the left side of the receiver where the the hanger would drag as you lift the feed cover, which leads me to believe this gun hasn't even been handled much.
I think this might be my most opportunistic gun purchase. I hope I didn't use up all of my gun luck.
