I've seen something similar to that on the levers that crane operators use for control of the boom. They were shaped for the right and left hands to use.

Dan Wesson revolver? They attach through the bottom of the grip but the top hole isn't/shouldn't be round.

I think Marshwheeling nailed it. A slingshot handle would, for most people, be held in the left hand.

I was thinking it might be a handle or grip for a custom bow. I found some made of wood with similar shapes but nothing like this material.

It reminds me of the old shifters that came on some Plymouth Road Runners and such back in the late 60's early 70's. Those that I remember were wood, but this might be an aftermarket version.
It would screw into the shifter, wide end up, with the finger groves forward, and the single grove in back for the thumb.
