Default Information about a 38 Police Special

I recently inherited a nickel plated Police .38 Special serial number 119360
There is the letter A stamped near by.
From, what I can tell, it is probably from the mid 50's.
But I don't see a lot of the marks that a lot of you are talking about. There is nothing stamped on the butt, unless the nickel plate has it covered.
The current condition is that it can't be cocked, but the trigger action will move the hammer.

It looks to me like a Colt Police Positive Special, in 38 Special caliber. What does the text on the barrel say?

Welcome! This page from the Colt website states your Police Positive Special was made in 1915:

Colt Firearm Serial Number Lookup - Year of Manufacture

It is a .38 Special, the Police Positive in .38 Colt New Police (some of us call it the .38 S & W ) had a shorter cylinder. More information may be at another web forum...
