I see that the hammer of that Colt is blued or Parkerized. ??
I used to own the ones that had the sides of the hammer polished, but not finished. In spite of excellent care, rust or freckling was always a problem. This is especially a factor in humid climates. I was very grateful when Colt began making stainless guns.
How is this gun finished, inc. that hammer?
Oh: nice grips, but that smooth wood may be a little slick if you need the gun in hot, sweaty weather or when stress makes you perspire. The gun's shape does minimize this problem, though.

Thanks for the comments. The paperwork says blued. Definitely not polished. If it was a revolver I could answer more knowledgeable. The grips are for "going to church on Sunday" so not for EDC. Even tho this would be a great carry gun I'm more prone to have a 2 1/2" 686 or 640-1 for self defense depending on the weather. Living in the humid south this one will stay well oiled.

Nice purchase.
I just replaced a gov. Colt 1911a1 in nickel I parted with decades ago. Never should of sold it.
I've had the stainless guns finish fluster on sweaty humid days. Care must be taken wth and finish on hot humid days. Must be the garlic I eat to keep the vampire bugs away.

Keeping them waxed with a paste wax will help them from being too slick, but when it is hot and humid, I can understand the need for checkered grips. We hope to offer them checkered soon.
