Default ATI 45acp at my local Rural King....

So my local Rural King has these on sale for $299. I've seen & heard pretty good things about em for an entry level 45.
I haven't owned a 1911 in bout 15 years or so. What do you guys think, should I pick one up or let it pass?

Looks great. I once had a NIB Thompson and it got more used than my Colt or Kimber due to it was much cheaper and if lost only slight $ pain.

Most folks do not realize that many Rural King farm stores carry firearms. They knock the socks off of the big box stores like Cabelas.

For the St. Louis folks the store in at Wentzville had great prices when I live in O'Fallon, Mo.

I would buy one of them at that price.

I see the list price at $459.95, and I also see they have a decent reputation - seems like a low-risk purchase, either if you like or sell it.

I'd say buy it. I paid more for mine when I bought it several weeks
ago during RK's 12% storewide sale. Its made in the Philippines by the
S.A.M. corp. Because of the weather here along with my back problems
I haven't even shot it yet but maybe this weekend when it warms up.
I've had it apart and it looks good so grab it while you can.

I wouldn't hesitate at that price. I picked up a Tisas, a Turkish gun, at that price, and what can I say, it functions great and it's a 1911.

RK is advertising a LC9 for $209, My local store didn't have one. I did pick up my shield 40 there Wednesday.

Common to have an AR on sale for less than $500

I don't think you can lose at that price. Also, if it is RIA quality, it's a deal. I've a couple cases of ball ammo through my RIA GI without a glitch.

Yep you snooze you lose is the old saying. There are two RKs
about a half hours drive from my house. When they have a
good sale price on popular guns the bigger store will usually
sell out the first day. The smaller store will have guns in
stock longer just because it doesn't get nearly as much
traffic as the big store. But the word gets around. The last
time I was in there they said people were calling from the
city where the bigger store is and driving over.

I do not think the RK 1911 is made by RIA. I believe it is made by Shooters Arms Manufacturing, another maker of 1911s located in the Phillipines.

I would take a chance on one if they were available in TN. In reality, you are not taking much of a chance based on the reviews I have read about this and similar 1911's made in the Phillipines.

I just bought an ATI Titan LW. It seems pretty nice, but it needs breaking in. You might need a differnt magazine. I've just taken mine shooting once, this weekend. It seems to get more reliable every magazine. I think in about 200-250 rounds, it will be pretty good. But that's my compact, I think the full size will be better.

Got the call this morning.
Went in a picked it up this afternoon.
Talk about oversized packaging for the product!
Big ole Plano multi pistol case came with it.
Only extra mags they had for it in stock, were the 1911 pro mags

I'll have to take it out this weekend if I get any time available.

Well I couldn't wait till this weekend. Took off early today and headed to the range.
I put 175 rounds of Federal Aluminum down range on the 40 and 25 yard lanes.
Oh boy, do I need to practice.

Have heard nothing but good about the Phillipine guns-I understand that they use a pretty good quality of steel. At that price you can't get hurt.

Went to the range again yesterday. Put another 100 rds down range. This time on 10 and 20 yard ranges. Took my time and got some great groups on freshly painted steel targets.
Last night I ordered the hogue wrap around grips for it as well.
Need to look at replacing the grip safety or modifying/sanding on the existing one. It really digs into the web of my hand between my thumb and index finger.
Other than that, this thing is a shooter and I enjoy it.
I've disassembled/reassembled this 1911 about 50 times (literally) to refamilarize myself with a 45 again.

This is one of the places where they save costs to the consumer. I have three RIA made 1911's and am happy with all. However all the sharp little edge's are a bit rough on the hand. Recontoured and smoothed the edges of the stock ambi safeties. On the tang and grip safety and such I took 400 sandpaper and smoothed all the nasty sharp stuff and hit the areas with a bit of cold blue, much better.

3rd trip to the range and 100 more rounds.
All I can say is... It's a keeper!
Averaged 1 out of every 2 shots hitting steel at 100 yards
I think this 45acp shoots smoother than my Glock 22 - 40sw.

So I ordered the compensator/muzzle brake for it today.
I know it's not actually gonna compensate anything, but hey it'll look cool.
I'll post pics when it arrives and I put it on.

So the comp came in. Took a little modifying with the spring plug to the commander size. I think it looks better. What do you guys think?
Probably take it to the range tomorrow and give it another run.

Another 125 rounds down range today. Had some erratic ejections with brass (2 back at my forehead). But other than that, it's still running really well with no stoppages or issues.
With grips, compensator, and 3 extra magazines, I'm still only out at about $415 altogether. I'm not complaining at all as long as it keeps running.
Oh yeah and the extra mags are pro mags with no issues. Who would of thunk it???

Rjj1971 glad to see someone is having better luck with theirs than I am with mine. Are you getting any chewed up brass upon ejection?

You know I looked for that issue today (because of your thread) and I never saw any. I'm even using the cheap federal aluminum case, and still no issues.
Thought I found one - but realized I stepped on the casing when I walked to the trash can. No rips or gouges on the casings like in your pics.

I hope you get it squared away with ATI. I'm really starting to like this 45 the more I shoot it. Only 600 rds down range now and it's
becoming one of my favorites already. I usually don't consider using one for SD till at least 1000 rds have been put down range by me.

Another 125 rds ran today. Had the range all to myself - that's always nice.
Stayed on 40 yard lanes and this 1911 just gets smoother each range visit.
Over 700 rds through and not 1 issue - prob just jinxed myself.
Reshaped the safety grip with a Dremel tool and no more pinch.
