Default Slide Scratches on 1911's?

I was looking at a Rock Island Xt-22 yesterday - I liked it and the price, but I noticed a long scratch on one side of the barrel - it appears as the slide was scratching the blueing or the finish - I don't think it's blueing.

Is this typical of 1911's?

I have a Browning Black Label in .380 and while it's new, it doesn't appear to be displaying that kind of wear.

Thanks in advance as always

That is not a typical 1911.

Hmmm, interesting design. Looks like a fixed barrel with a cut away slide. Does not appear to have a barrel bushing, which can cause scratches on the barrel of a traditional 1911. If the side of the slide is dragging against the barrel, I would guess it shouldn't be. Might want to look at a couple others to see if it is common, or just something in that particular gun. My guess is the finish is Parkerizing. That is the finish used on my RIA .45 1911.

I mean no offense by this, especially if you like the pistol, but Rock Island stuff isn't what I'd consider top shelf product.

If the barrel is exposed as it appears to be on their website, I'd definitely be concerned about scratches on it as the action cycles. Looks to me like dirt and debris might be q problem, too. Matter of fact, if barrel scratching was an issue, I'd leave it alone and buy something else.

Plus, the pistol just doesn't look right to me.
