My new Beretta
I was in the market for a metal frame, double stack 9mm for both carry and HD. All my auto pistols are single stack, and I wanted an option with more options, so to speak.
My LGS had a NIB Beretta 92FS. It came with three 15 round magazines. It will be kept loaded (and carried) with this MecGar 20 round magazine.
I know this pistol gets a ton of complaints, but to be honest, I really like it. Growing up in the 80's and 90's, all the good guys had Beretta 92's in the movies. And, it does have a stellar reputation for being extremely durable and reliable.
Any other 92 fans?

I don't know what the complaints are now that Beretta upgraded the metallurgy after some initial problems a long time ago. I always wanted one and I finally got an Italian model, the only really obvious difference being the magazine release at the base of the left side of the grip frame instead of behind the trigger. Magazines won't interchange but I don't care; it's what I wanted and that's that.
I love Beretta products as a rule and the M92 is no exception. It's a little big for EDC for me but if you're properly sized, or can carry it openly (that would make a big difference) then you will be well served.
Metal frame fans are still out there!!!!!
All but one of my automatics are metal framed. Plastic is not exciting to me in pistols. YMMV of course; lots of Combat Tupperware is out there and much beloved.

Well done, no complaints here, great choice. I also have one for similar reasons, good enough for my Uncle Sam good enough for me.

Thanks for the input. I'm with you on the metal guns thing. ALL my handguns (autos and revolvers) are metal framed / steel. I prefer steel, actually. But for a double stack 9mm that will be carried, I wasn't sure I wanted to carry a 40 ounce steel pistol WITH 16-19 rounds in the mag. My 1911 is heavy enough.
While I wasn't thrilled about the aluminum frame contacting the carbon steel slide, I figured that the M9 has proven its alloy frame strength in all those military trials.

Love mine! It's one of my favorite range guns. Fits me like a glove and it's always reliable. I wanted to get another one... the INOX version... but I wanted the all "bright-finished" Italian-made one, not the American-made "two-tone" version.
That's awfully hard to get here in Massachusetts... and possibly anywhere now unless you go used.

I've got an older Italian 92F with wood grips and all the box and docs including the cardboard outer sleeve, that is beautiful and smooth as silk. Also have an Elite II 92G Brig that is awesome!
You will never convince a 92 hater otherwise as the harder you try the more vehemently they will describe how sorry their M9's were in the guard and so forth and so on. IF you could logically have a dialogue with the haters and explain to them that their beloved Glock or 1911 or whatever was used as a tent peg hammer for 20 years, not lubed, and you used worn out ProMag magazines in it that said Glock or 1911 the experience would have been the same.
Enjoy your Beretta, they are great pistols!

Count me in as a fan of the Beretta 92. They are great guns.
The 92 series is a classic, proven, high quality weapon. They are fairly large and heavy handguns by some standards, but that aids in recoil management and enhances it's effectiveness as an impact weapon, should it come down to that.
I was always kind of partial to the D models myself, which were true DAO. It's a shame they don't make them anymore IMO. They had a relatively heavy, albeit smooth and consistent trigger pull and were probably as close to a DAO revolver as you could get in a semi-auto. Perhaps not the ideal range gun, but a superb defense weapon as far as I'm concerned. Excellent for dry-fire practice.
While not an absolutely necessary feature for me personally, I do like having restrike capability. Tap-rack-bang is the standard, recommended immediate default response when getting a click instead of a bang, but a common occurrence observed by many instructors in FoF/Force on Force scenarios is for shooters to try to work the trigger another time or two after a stoppage, before proceeding to clear the malfunction or reload. In that sense, I think restrike capability makes a lot of sense. YMMV

Ha!!! First off, it probably has 15-round post-ban magazines, which would put me away in a MA prison for 10 years (and you know I've only got 4 good years left). Secondly, I'm certain it is not a MA-complaint model... because if it was, you'd have dumped it long ago! Thirdly, I re-committed those funds to my (soon-to-arrive) P226 once it became clear that the Italian version INOX pistol was a virtual impossibility.
But all that said, if you are serious, we can talk. It does no harm to talk. There are solutions and ways around almost anything if you really want something bad enough!

Sure I'm a 92 fan and I'm a Beretta fan in general! Just picked up a really nice 92S, I love it!
I also have two original Beretta Cougars in my collection, the 8040 I did use for CCW.
I'll never turn my nose up at a Beretta!
Good catch,,,,Enjoy!

Yeah, I believe Beretta has every thing worked out on these pistols. I don't have one but my buddy does and his gun runs really well. I live about 4 or five miles from the Beretta factory they just built here in Tennessee. I ought to get me one.

I have a PX-4 in 9mm and love the way it shoots got rid of those giant bat wings and went to low profile and made the safety a de-cocker .. Trade off carrying it with my S&W Compact in 40 ..
Would like a 92 FS Compact Inox .. think its a nice looking pistol .. It may be a gun in my future ..
Just got a Sig P229 Legion in 40 .. Early Fathers Day Gift ..

What's not to love metal and high capacity and a great design. I picked this 92fs up for $350 a few months ago. Just put some Hogue grips on it, finger grooves fit my hand perfectly. This is my truck gun, toss it in the center console in its cheap holster and roll.

I bought one about 6 months ago because It became available.
Absolutely like new. Paid 400 bucks.
The blueing is absolutely flawless. I love the 9mm caliber available today for self-defense. Not so much 15 years ago.
However,,,,,now here comes the dis-likes:
1. the size is HUMONGOUS!!!
2. the weight is HUMONGOUS!
3. Forget about concealed carry!
4. A great home defense handgun, but I already have plenty.
5. Our Armed Forces are changing to another pistol, and I believe it will be a Sig-Sauer model, and in 45acp caliber. YES!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I'm going to be the odd man out. I like the way they look and feel and their proven reliability and I always want to get one especially after seeing John McClane and Martin Riggs use one........that is until I pick one up and pull the trigger. Immediately I remember why I don't own one. I don't know the actual weight but it feels like a good 15 lb pull.

I own the same pistol as you (an Italian model 92S). It's a great gun. The slide racks like there's melted butter on it.
Change the recoil springs regularly (to prevent frame/slide battering), and use good mags, and you won't have any issues with your Berettas.

I too love the 92 series. I have a 92A-1 and an M9. Due to back issues, I find it uncomfortable to carry in anything but a shoulder holster due to the weight. But I sure love shooting the darned things.

Congratulations! The Beretta 92 is a great firearm. No complaints from me...I've owned my 92F (Italian) since 1987.

My first handgun was a Beretta 92FS, back in the mid-90s, just before the AWB. I had 4 15-round factory magazines. It was a great gun, despite being too big for my hands by any objective standard. I think I put over 4,500 rounds through it without any malfunctions, from less-than-optimal commercially reloaded ammo to premium JHP.
I never had a problem with the slide-mounted safety. I often kept it loaded with the safety on (no CC at the time...strictly range gun and HD). Once I realized I could swipe the safety off with the same thumb motion as my 1911s it was all good.
Y'all are making me miss my 92. I really need to get another one. A 92 Compact would be nice to have and a little easier to carry than the full-size.

I like Beretta pistols and shotguns. I have owned four of the 92 series; one F, two FS, and a FS Inox. This one will likely be my last, as it doesn't get much better than an Italian 92 FS Inox. This is a large pistol. The Galco CM 202 holster makes it easier to carry and conceal.

If they ever rerelease a Centurion, my wallet is screwed. When my credit cards get paid down enough and Beretta gets their TN plant fully up and running, an M9A3 is on the want list.

Same boat - I have a 92FS that I really like, regardless of the heavy trigger pull - maybe I should do the D spring thing everyone talks about. I had a 92F from someone kinda famous in the LE world, that I never should have gotten rid of. I also have a 96 that I really don't like (.40 never caught on with me), but it's there in the pile.
I have a Wilson Combat 92G on the way (at least I'm told) - can't wait. I recently picked up a Sig P229 Legion and I'm anxious to do a side by side comparison.

I've had and have lots of 9mm's - Browning, Glock, SIG and others - but I keep coming back to the Beretta. Currently have a 92FS Inox, M9, 92A1 and 92A3. I added the D spring to the first three and they are now sweet! I have fairly small hands so the A3 fits me best of all. I've owned a 92 of one flavor or another since about 1990, and I wouldn't be without at least one.
