I'm going to start of by saying I'm not a fan of little guns. Not because they are small and wimpy looking but because they are too small for my hands. My daily carry is a double stack. It's comfortable all year long and I have no problem concealing it. However, I don't carry on occasions when clothes are so specific that it makes it impossible to CC. Usually the occasion calls for formal clothes. I wanted to change this. I want to be able to carry even if the night involves formal dress attire and dancing (gotta be comfortable)...you know...weddings, anniversaries, graduations, ...

For this reason I bought a 642 J frame. It's a nice gun but revolvers generally don't work well for me. Grips are too small, protrude to far, lack of sights. ...just doesn't work well for me.

Similar problem with semi auto pocket guns. Lack of grips. Itty bitty stubs does not a grip make! . Or they are just too thin.....like the Kahr.

I was almost going to get a shield, which was bigger than I wanted, until I tried the G43. The 43 is a G22 cut in half long ways. It'd thin, light and a hair smaller than the Shield at the expense of a few rounds. The reason I bought the 43 was because of how well it fit my hand compared to other pocket guns. The hump on the back of the grip does a great job at adding more space "real estate" for my hand

Gun comes with 2 mags. Both are 6 rounds but one has a pinky extention and one is flush.

The ammo used was 100 rounds of 9mm fmj. 50 rounds of 124gr Geco and 50 rounds of 115gr PPU. The gun was tlnot touched in any way prior to the range. No disassembly, no cleaning, nothing.

First set at roughly 7 yards using 124gr Geco


6 shots + 6 shots. As you can see the first 6 were to the left. I had this issue the whole time unless I really concentrated. The next 6 were better

And finally 20 yards or so. Here I tried for head shots. Unsuccessfully! It worth to note that stock Glock sights absolutely suck and these will be changed out ASAP. They just cover so much of the target you're almost guessing. Having said that this gun isn't ment to take 20+ yard head shots.

Now onto the 115 PPU. I was getting used to the trigger and it seems to like 115 over the 124 so I may have to find 115 Gold Dots....or better sights

Get a pair of Vickers Tactical +2 base plates & springs kits. It adds that little extra to the grip that makes it easier to control.

Nice shooting with that brand new G43. No cleaning or anything prior to firing and it ran fine is a testament to Glocks design.
I'm not going to tell that to my G42 toting friend tho. Got to get him to the range.
On the Ruger LCP I pocket carry, I filed the sights down to nothing. I carry it in a Sticky holster. Sights are useless on those tiny guns.
With my Glocks, I use a MIC IWB holster. I love them things. Got them from Amazon.
And nice range.

I agree with the vickers tactical +2.I have several hundred rounds thru the one I have no problems.I have found with the glock 42 and 43 I have to use more trigger finger as in all the way to the crease to keep from pulling left.My wife has the same problem with her glock 42.

Love my 43. Try the N82 tactical pro IWB holster. Works very well for me

I could have sworn my problem was too much trigger. When I used the tip it seemed to straighten out. Will probably go back next week for a few hundred more rounds.
Got the gun last Saturday. Wanted to make sure all was good before ordering accessories. Tomorrow I'll be ordering mags and +2 extensions.
I'll check em out. Bought a DeSentes kydex IWB holster to try out. It has an off center clip. Been wearing it all day. Feels a little weird. Not bad bit will do the job for now.

I've only got about 100 thru my 43 but definitely have the same problem with shots hitting to the left. Will have to do more shooting. I'd be glad to hear more about this left impact issue.

I have a G42 and a G43 and have learned as mentioned
above the left impact "issue" is not any fault of the guns,
it's just a matter of how you use the trigger. And BTW if
you can't resolve the issue remember that the rear sight
is drift adjustable for windage.

Great write up! I've been considering picking up the same gun for the same reasons. Nice to see a useful article, rather then reading an advertisement of sorts.

Let us know what you do to get shots to the left straightened out.

That's what I had assumed from the beginning. I'm thinking there is a going to be a learning curve going from a double stack gun with a large grip to a small grip

I would give the sights more time. The finer the sight picture, the more accurate the gun but at the expense of quicker target acquisition, especially in dim or poor light, where most encounters seem to occur.

Another problem with a fine sight picture is that they become more difficult to use as we age. Most of these guns are intended for short range encounters and for that, the coarse sight picture is better suited.

I carry my G27 (small double stack) in an IWB. I wear it outside the pants but under my belt mostly, with a loose shirt. Inside my pants will work with a t-shirt.

BTW: My wife likes the G43 so much she had me buy her a second one with laser sights for her bedroom gun. She carries 24/7 in a special purse. Two of her friends have bought ones after shooting hers.
