My EDC is a Benchmade Emissary but I love Buck knives. Just ordered a custom 110.

Going with my two OOSIK handled knives.
One is a Loveless style drop point hunter made by the late Cody Wescott, Las Cruces, NM.
The other is an Ulu that I bought in Alaska.

I know many of you will chuckle at my lowly contribution, but in all honesty this is the best knife I've ever owned. I have a "ton" of Benchmades, Spydercos, Bucks, etc. with "specials" from Mel Pardue, Jess Horn, Pat Crawford et al. But this Gerber Bolt-Action has been my "go to" knife for over 30 years. In the workshop, garden, carpet work, it has done it ALL. I'm sorry that it is missing the logo medallions, they were lost years ago. I believe the original design is by Blackie Collins.

Great idea, Smith 357. Here's a few of mine:
1. S&W "Extreme Ops". I have one in the car and another in the truck in case of severe accidents. Serrated blade is for cutting the seat belt in case it jams, and that little doohickey at the other end is for breaking out the side window in case neither the door or window can be opened.
2. A few Laguioles. I've since added to the collection (accumulation?).
3. My favorite Buck. I bought it in the PX at Ft Richardson AK in the 1960s and it's been on my side a lot since then. Cleaned two moose, four caribou and a muley with it.
4. Barry Wood folder, half open. This one made for Colt. That arrangement didn't last long as Colt and Wood had conflicting ideas about manufacturing and marketing.
5. My EDC for over 30 years. My wife sent it to me when I was in RVN. I carried it until 2002, when the wear on the scales made the metal edge of the shield and cross stand out fom the body and they were sharp. I retired it and now carry its twin.

Knives? Did somebody say, " Knives?" Well, come to think of it, I do have a couple lying around the ol' homestead.
Well...let's get started. First is a Randall Model 25-5 in high carbon steel.
Next, a Randall Model 25-5 in stainless.
Then there's a Randall Model 5-6 in high carbon steel with stag handle.
And a Randall Model 5-6 in high carbon steel with Micarta handle and compass (Bradford Angier model).
A Randall Model 21 with stag handle.
A few more fixed blades.
And a few more fixed blades.
Now some folders.
And some more folders.
And some more folders.
And some....What??? You say you get the idea?? Dang! And I was just gettin' warmed up.
Well, like I said, I do have a couple lying around the ol' homestead.

I used to dabble in making stone and bone knives a few years back. Here are a couple that I've done. Most have been traded off for other knives. Hand made the sheaths too.

Some moe of mine. Nothing as nice as the ones I've jsut seen, though.
1. US trench knife, M 1917 (?).
2. Fallkniven S1. Very heavy duty knife. I don't think you could break it.
3. Belgian Army pocket kkife. About 10 years ago there were boxes of these a gun shows, mostly very rusty. This is the best one I've seen.
4. Laguiole, with the hilt made fron scrap steel off the Glnden Gate Bridge.
5. An ulu I bought in a tourist store in Ketchikan AK in 1946. Bone handle, slate blade. Possibly the real thing.

Does anyone have one of the Puma knives that resemble the Buck Model 110? Mine has white Micarta scales and was called the Whitetail.
I think the wood handles were called the Game Warden and stag ones in that size were the Prince. Smaller ones in stag were the Duke and the Earl.
I seldom carry mine, as it's pretty heavy compared to my Benchmade Model 710. But it's a good, solid knife and I do sometimes wear it, in a Cordura belt pouch.

Ok! It turns out that several mammals have a penis bone.
And the walrus can have an especially long and large one.
Some are as big as an ax handle.
OOSIK is the native Alaskan name for the walrus penis bone.

Bowie made by "Uncle Bob" Riggs of Washington State in 1944. Riggs, who was born soon after the Civil War, wanted to make a contribution to the war effort. Somehow, my grandfather, who lived in Norfolk, heard about Riggs and ordered a knife for his son, who was going overseas. By the time the knife made it to Virginia, his son had shipped out for France.
Riggs also made the copper-lined sheath. His trademark was that "V" stamped into the blade.
Always handled and marveled at but never used, the knife is probably still as sharp as "Uncle Bob" made it 70 years ago.

Very nice! Any Idea what part of Washington Bob lived in? I ask because Riggs are old family friends, but I never heard of a knifemaker in their family.

Some great blades shown..
The Puma White Hunter has been
around since he mid 50's IIRC.
Great looking knife but I could never understand
the purpose of the design.
This one is a 1986 mfg.

I took this photo quite a while ago. Features several iconic brands including Tidioutte, Case, Queen Cutlery, Boker, Schrade, KaBar, and Spyderco.

Here are some of mine. Two Kershaw Blurs, and a Rocky Thomas custom small belt knife.

I don't really collect knives, but once in a while I will buy a blade at a reenactment and put a handle on. Then I will make a sheath for it.
