Default A Gunly Gun

My wife tells me that most of the pictures of guns that I post are not very "gunly" at all. Well, this old Colt is a gunly gun if there ever was one, so, to break the mold, I'd better post it.

That ole 1878 Colt would be at its maximum gunliness with a deer hide behind it instead of a towel.
Ask her if you don't believe me.

Well, that's a fine gun alright, but can you imagine John Wayne shooting anything with a shopkeeper's handle on it???!!!

Hard to argue against this point. In defense of the OP, however, a towel is certainly more gunly than a washcloth. Or a sponge.

I'm pretty sure I saw several (1902 variants) in a movie with Gary Cooper about a doctor during the Philippine Insurrection. He might have used one but I think he had a SAA.

Also, there is a picture in Packing Iron of an early star carrying two on a motocycle, if I remember rightly.

John Wayne was a make believe cowboy in a make believe world. Even his name was make believe.

That old revolver is real and looks like it'd kill someone in the real world, no matter what kind of "handle" it has on it.

When lacking a deer skin an American flag will make any gun gunly. I hope you have one.

My new words for the day... "Gunly" and "Gunliness"!

Now I have to work them into a conversation with the good wife tonight or they don't count!

Women do come up with some cute remarks. Since she got you to post such a fine Colt, you could reward your wife by making the Colt hers.
Pink grips though!
