It's bullfrog season here in the Ozarks. I put me together a pretty effective tool for that. That is a pretty cheap light but it is bright. The mount has screws that go across the rail and were slightly in the way of the sights. I filed a nice flat in the middle and now they are below the sights. I got rid of the mag safety and put a Tandemkross hammer bushing in. Used a Voltquartsen adjustable trigger and Williams firesights. Found that Houge grip to make the grips not so skinny. That little pistol is very accurate. Hope it lasts as long as my S&W revolvers have. I had a Ruger MKI standard a long time ago and it was great.

I have been told that one of the inexpensive lasers is outstanding
for Bull Frogs. I really can't recount any personal experience
along these lines, because shooting frogs with a firearm is illegal
in Ohio. Even though it is fine to use a bow on them.
 
6518 John, I have had some big hauls of frogs in my life but
never even close to that haul. Nary a banjo picker in the bunch.
Outstanding mess of frogs. These weren't from a frog farm were
they?
 
Watch the video--one of my friends goes out with them. Those are free-range swamp caught bullfrogs. I frankly, did not know there was such a thing as a frog farm.

And I sure like GT's frogging pistol. That would be my preferred method personally.
 
In Louisiana it is against the law to shoot bullfrogs , Daddy made us grab em with our hands. After you grabbed one , you put it in the "croaker " sack that Dad held open , ever wonder why they called croacker sacks ? He kept it wet so the frogs wouldn't die. This was good when grabbin out of season, if you heard the Game warden coming , dump the sack , the frogs swim off and the Game Warden couldn't cite you for hunting out of season.....no evidence !

I've never done a hunting trip for frogs.

I do carry a Colt Woodsman or M34 when hunting waterfowl in the early teal season and generally shoot a few frogs on each outing. Good eating.
 
In Louisiana you cant use anything that pierces the frogs skin, shootin' and Giggin' are out. Preffered method around here is a small net on the end of a long pole, put it over the frog and he jumps right up into the net. That won't work if the frog is in the water, there grab them by hand or with a "frog grabber" spring loaded tong like contraption with a trigger it mounts on the end of a pole, touch the frog and it grabs it.

Only bullfrogs may be taken. Bullfrogs may be taken using hands, hand nets, hook-and-line, gig, spear, or bow-and-arrow. A fishing license is required to take bullfrogs. Bullfrogs may not be sold. (Fish farmers may be exempted from these regulations).
 
Nice froggin rig. Mine is below. I use a small Black and Decker spotlight powered with AA batteries to shine them. I have grabbed and gigged in ponds where shooting isn't safe or allowed but I really like to use my S&W. Shootin and eatin frogs is one of my favorite things to do. My neice from Denver was just in town for a visit. She is 11 and loves all things outdoors but her parents don't. We floated an Ozark Stream, she shot for the first time and caught her first frog. I hope she has fond memories of summertime in Missouri.
 
6518john, I've seen a few piled up that big and used to run all the farm ponds on a few thousand acres. I've put half that many in a gunny sack many times. I used a Remington nylon 66 with a scope on it. slip up the pond bank next to a tree and shoot all the big ones along the bank. Good eating.

A guy who looked a lot like my brother started running the river in his jet boat and would cook them up on a sand bar. All the local judges, prosecuting attorney, some lawyers and local big wigs were invited. Guys ran their boats all evening shooting them with 22's. The non boaters stayed at the campfire drinking beer or liquor.

A guy who looked a lot like me and a few others prepped many, many. This got to be a big annual event, men's night at the frog bar.

Tin foil baked taters and some potato salad.

THEN THE FROG MARSHALL SHOWED UP!

He is a nice guy, liked by all. Once I stopped a jail break bare handed and he was the closest LE and was the 1st one in the door behind me. By then it was over but he made it before our Barney Fife guy came out of hiding in an empty cell.

He said it is over folks I'm writing all of you up. The big judge, a retired FBI lawyer/agent said, won't work, all of these outlaws will come up before me and I'll dismiss the cases. Then the prosecutor said They wouldn't even get to the judge, all that paper work will hit file 13.

Finally someone said grab a plate and join us, he rather enjoyed the frog legs, it was his first time eating them, but we knew he would rather have been writing us up.

He made his point, the annual frog fry sipped into history.
