Just going to throw this out there but where the sites added later or is it a new weapon just out of the box? Could be a chance if sites were added later they are for a 9mm not the 40 but I could be wrong.

If you are not tied to keeping the night sights, Dawson Precision will make you a set of FO sights and guarantee them to shoot to POA.

Default Don't File

If the gun is shooting high, you do not want to file down the front sight as the gun will shoot even higher. If you're planning to file down the rear sight, you're moving in the right direction but you'll probably file off the entire sight before the bullets go where they're supposed to. You cannot get 6 to 8 inches of correction with a file..

I had the same problem with my .40 BHP and it is probably the reason that I got a petty good deal on it when I bought it from the previous owner. It is not a target pistol by any means but, 5 to 6 inches high at 7 and 15 yards was simply not acceptable.

I discussed the problem, with my then pistol smith, and the decision was to get a higher front sight. He ordered and installed a Novak front sight. Problem solved! It now shoots to POA but, is still not a target pistol but, it shoots very acceptable groups.

Have you tried the 165gr (shoots lower)?
Or the 155gr (lower still)?

My Brn HiPo Practical with factory sights wants 165gr to shoot POA at 20yd.

The height on mine is .215. The rear sight is a "beer can" adjustable.

If you can post pics of the sights I can most likely tell you whose sights they are. From there I can make some educated recommendations.

Not seeing the sights or gun I would recommend contacting Novak in WV or Don Williams of The Action Works in AZ. Either one should be able to get the right height sight and get the gun to POA at 20.

The meprolights are direct replacements on a MKIII and they should be the same for 9mm or 40 S&W. I would call their customer support it is possible that the wrong front sight was installed. It should have markings that will tell you the height. Swap it out based on their response.

Sight Calculator

Should be height from the slide not
dovetail.

Also what hold/sight picture are you using?

So the hold in image #2 IIRC the meprolights are setup for a combat hold but using the sight pic you want typically results in shots low on a combat setup.

Sight image 3.

If it were my gun I would send it to Novak in WV and get it setup properly.

Are they sending you a front sight or a new set or did you send the pistol/slide to them?
