Sure looks like ivory grips on the Remington Navy Conversion. What do you think?

It seems I hit the auction lottery this morning. Not many people there, and no one seemed to know what a Colt is; let alone the Remington. I even grabbed a Marlin for good measure.

What do I think? I think that is as fine of a group photo that a man could hope to assemble in one mornings worth of effort!

Tell us more about the Bisley and the Lightning! And the Marlin too!

They're rough, but were cheap. The Bisley is a 45 Colt. The Marlin is an 1894 in 38-40. Pocket knives are a Bluegrass Cutlery made Winchester, and a Cattaraugus. If it's a reproduction, I'm not aware of any like it, but it appears new.

Is that a Lightening or a Thunder? (38 or 41)

I'm particularly curious about the Remington conversion. There isn't a lick of finish left on it, but the screws aren't buggered up, and the action is tight and smooth as a new one. The bore isn't bad, and although there's a bit of pitting toward the end of the barrel, the rest of the metal is in pretty good shape. I'm also curious as to the value of the grips. They aren't chipped or damaged in any way.

Define "cheap". That is a grouping of "cool stuff", there must be a story.

Care to share?

$260 for the Remington
$300 for the Marlin
$500 for the Bisley
$250 for the Lightning
$50 each on the knives. If the Cattaraugus is a reproduction, it isn't marked as such, and is in mint condition.
There are parts missing on the Marlin, The Bisley doesn't index correctly, The Lightning seems to work correctly in double action, but not in single action. I'd love to have the Bisley repaired into shooting condition.

yeah, that's cheap.

You can heat a pin/needle to red hot and stick it in the back side of the "ivory ?" grip. If its plastic it will melt. If ivory, it will smell like hair burning.

It isn't plastic. It' either ivory or some sort of bone.
