Norinco 1911...

Lot's of them up here. I have several shooting buddies with them. Most use them as a cheaper platform to customize. They can be bought new up here for $300 without the Made in China script on the frame. Decent shooters.

I can't tell you about their 1911's but I did have a Norinco made Makarov . It was a fine shooting handgun (it was stolen out of my truck) . I have came to the conclusion that you don't have to pay a grand or more to get a fine firearm . The old adage of " you get what you pay for " is not always the case anymore .
If your 1911 satisfies you , don't worry about what others say . Just enjoy it , It's yours .

I sold one about a year ago that I bought new in 1993. Probably should have kept it as I was always told to never sell a reliable gun that you shoot well. Ah well. Anyhow, they are pretty sweet for the money. Mine always went bang and I could hit everything I wanted to with it. Maybe not pretty, but then again they are "shooters" and never pretended to be safe queens. Enjoy it!

I had one years back, was on par with a ww2 grade 1911a1. they were all hard steel, no mim parts. Mine was a little rough around the edges, but it shot well. I put a wilson combat spring kit into it, and for the $15 and the time spent was well worth it. accuracy was ok, and I did a little trigger job on it. The hammer, sear and disconnect were rough but with a little work, was as good as my $1200-$1500 triggers. I stopped short of a new barrel and bushing, and re-doing the slide/frame fit. I learned a lot working on that Norinco 1911. I sort of wish I still had it along with my "71 Z-28 I sold ,but those are the choices we make and regret. Over all a good gun, I know they make a newer version in Turkey or some God awful place, not as good as the ones from China.

I believe most would consider them as good as, if not better than, any of the M1911A1 clones. A shame that they were a casualty of politics. Not one I would get rid of without good reason. They are not often seen these days.

Norincos are good guns for customize ! Here`s mine..

I went up and checked Norinco 1911's on Gun Broker and they are up to $500 now and when I bought mine at a gun show it was $200 in the late 90's.

The rumor always was that they were forged from recycled railroad track. I can't say if its true or not, but these guns are made from some seriously hard steel.
If you need any mill work done for sights, etc, many gunsmiths will charge you for the cost of a new mill bit.

Ya know, about 10 years ago, I was at a Gun Show and some guy had a Norinco 1911. I believe he wanted $400.00 for it and it was NIB. I thought that was a lot of money for the gun back then but still kinda kick myself. I have heard a lot of good things about them and if one happens to find me, I am definitely interested.

Had one a few years ago. Never did anything to it except have a ambient safety added. No issues whatsoever, even fed hollow points.
