A Rohm RG 66T

Yes it is a RG 66T. The T indicates it is the Target model. What makes it a target model. Adjustable rear sight. Yes, don't laugh so hard you wet your pants but I could not toss away a perfectly good revolver. Ok maybe that is stretching the term perfectly good but it is as good as new. It comes with two cylinders. One in 22 LR, one in 22 WMR magnum. The 22 LR has never been fired and the 22 magnum has been fired very little. It came with the original EIG holster and a vinyl case. Single action only. What can I say, I felt the need to share.

As a gun enthusiast I had owned a good number of Rohm revovlers but none that were as nice looking as yours.

Rohm has different quality levels and yours appears to be one of the better ones. I had some that shot pretty well and worked reliably but in general Rohm revolvers are a step below Arminius / Weihrauch and the J.P. Sauer - Hawes revolvers.

One of my wife's friends, a widow, has several of her late husband's guns. Nothing I am interested in, but one of them was (I think) the same Rohm single action (no holster), also with two cylinders. I can't be sure as it was over four years ago when I saw it.

For an RG that's pretty decent looking - I had always heard that RG stands for Rotten Gun. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see anything that looks like an adjustable rear sight. Maybe if you posted a view of the top?

Also, it looks like the screw through the frame above the trigger has backed out some, might want to tighten that before it gets away.

I too am guilty of owning an RG, but in .44 Magnum. Who'd have thought that such a thing existed?

Rohm parts are manufactured in Southeim, Germany and assembled
into guns by RC Industries in Miami, FL. John Hinkley, Jr. used a Rohm
snub nosed .22 model RG14 in his attempt to assassinate President
Reagan.
He used "Devastator" .22 caliber hollow point ammo, made to explode
on contact, by Bingham Ltd. of Norcross, GA. The slug flattened like a
dime, as it ricocheted off the bullet-proof limo, before hitting Reagan's
rib.
Hinkley was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Looks pretty nice to me--excellent truck/ATV gun.

I also noticed the screw but was not familiar enough with the gun to start turning screws, but you are right it simply goes all the way through. It's all tight now plus all of the other screws (one). Thanks for noticing.

I too admit to having owned two RGs

The first one was a RG-22 that I bought from a co-worker for $10 many years ago. With a little luck, four of the six rounds in it would usually fire. At 7 yards, they might even hit the target.

I bought it for a specific reason. A couple of weeks later, it went to a gun buy-back program and I traded it for $75 worth of gas and grocery gift certificates.

A few years ago, a lady friend of mine asked me to teach her to shoot. She said she owned a .38 revolver, but had never shot it.
On the appointed day, she showed up with this.

Thank God she never tried to fire it! The timing was so bad that the cylinder wouldn't advance most of the time.
I traded her a old Model 10 that I had picked up cheap for it.

I was trying to come up with creative ways to destroy it. but a dealer friend of mine insisted that I sell it to him. He gave me $75 for it and to his credit, he pointed out the faults with it to potential buyers. Believe it or not, he actually sold it to a collector for $100.

I may be wrong but the screw centered on the rear sight looks like it lends itself to adjustment. Let me know what you think

well while I am not a great fan of RG. revolvers, my father in law has a 4" 38spl that is a fairly solid old gun he has owned since the early 1960s when he was a reserve mounted deputy in Columbus Ms.

I think he joined just to get to ride his horse in a uniform, with his friends.

the old gun gets shot every now and then, when my youngest son gets tasked with cleaning his granddads guns, most of which I have given him over the last 44 years

for a stick in the drawer gun that might have seen 18 rds. in that 44 year time frame it has sufficed!

I get a kick out of him, he actually thinks it is as valuable as a Smith or a Colt, and to him it is

Just to make the point, there are many people for whom a handgun of this type meets all their needs. They have no interest in guns as such, probably shoot little, if any, and all they want is a low priced home defense gun to keep in a dresser drawer or on a shelf in the closet. They care nothing else about it, beyond its capability to fire a bullet if necessary.

I once bought a Bryco in .380 from someone I knew, only because it was cheap ($40) and he needed some cash. He had a box of Winchester white box ammo with it, still full as he had never fired it. It worked fine for shooting the first 20 or 30 rounds, then I started having problems, and never made it through that box of .380 before the Bryco gave up (a peened breech face firing pin hole which froze the firing pin). But it would have done the job had he needed it.

I have one also,it is a camp gun she hasn't blown up and has been reliable and accurate

my mom has a rohm 22 that is sentimental as it was her dads and she learned to shoot on it. it's a 22 lr that fire every time. heavy trigger pull though. it got stolen once and the pawn shop we found it in put 30 bucks on it. for that price I'd say it's worth it

RG with box

I have had my RG model 66 for 46 years my granddad gave it to me when I was 14. Not worth much but worth a million to me. Still in the box have no paper work for it.
