Well I've done it. I've gone to the dark side and it would appear I am never looking back. My wife got me a Sig Sauer P320 compact for Christmas and have since acquired a sub-compact X-Change kit. I am super impressed with the platform. The Compact is almost exactly the same size as a G19 and the sub-compact is almost exactly the same size as an M&P9c. I am enjoying this platform more than either of my M&Ps, though my 9c will remain my primary carry gun till I find a holster I like for the P320sc.

I love Sigs. I am not sure I am ready to delve into the polymer striker fired realm yet though.

The P320 platform has been getting a lot of good press lately, what with the Army adopting it, police agencies using it, and it getting into the hands of the mainstream gun buying public.

Sig makes a nice gun no doubt and I will admit to owning a few and liking every one, but at the same time I still like my M&P's as well.

I guess the proof is in having the opportunity to handle and shoot one, and see how the different modules work together and is the platform right for the particular shooter.

I like it.

Congratulations, and welcome to the Dark Side Club. I've had a P320 Compact 9mm for 2 1/2 years and 4300 trouble-free rounds, and I love it. However, be aware that there is the potential for an even darker side, a full-blown, high-expense, giddy, slobbering addiction: the P320 .357 SIG.

I got a Caliber X-Change Kit and converted my P320 to the .357 SIG, and now I don't want to shoot anything else. Not my beloved EDC M&P 40c, not my Shield 9, not my expensive and wonderful FNX-Tactical .45 with its Venom red-dot, not my tons-o-fun Ruger Standard .22 plinker, only my P320 .357 SIG. I know I need help, but I don't care, it's too much fun.

Beware the .357 SIG.

How I have already set my mind on it. I guess that's gonna be a bad thing. I've actually been eyeing the caliber for years but have been waiting for the right platform.

For years I resisted a plastic gun. Broke down and bought a Shield for carry. I was really surprised how nice it was. (Of course I had to do the Apex thing to get the trigger into decent shape.)

After that is was downhill all the way: Sig 320 subcompact and full size; then I tried a Smith SD9VE but that didn't quite hit the mark. It went, and a Walther PPX appeared. But it went as well to finance a Smith 99....which was nice but the real thing, a Walther 99 AS...wow what a nice trigger. So I had to get the Walther PPQ.

I still have my 5906, 39-2, 92FS, Sig P226 and BHP....plus I just got a Lionheart LH9 in trade for a Sig 2022, so I've not completely sunk to the depths of poly pistols.

And comparing my Shield with the Apex stuff to the stock PPQ...Before you buy another plastic gun give the Walther a try. It's pretty good.

I can totally understand where you are coming from. I have a Shield .40 and now I have 3 SIG P250c. I understand that a lot of folks don't like the DAO P250, but after some time practicing with the .22 I have to admit I have a great love for the weapon and it's trigger.

I've been in the "Dark" side for a little over 20 years, when I bough my first 220, then a second, then a 245 (now called a 220 compact) and a 226 police trade in 357 Sig.

well of all of my guns...if i had to just chose one...it would have to be my Sig P220 45 acp.....i absolutely love my Smith's and my Colts...but there is just something about a Sig that keeps me coming back...

Congrats on making the jump! I've been a huge Sig fan since I started my career...actually a few years before that even. I was working in a police equipment store in San Diego for a PD Lt that owned the store on the side. It satisfied my gun fun being able to handle and sell so many types of firearms back then (if only I had the vision to stock up a few of those blasted Colt revolvers that never would sell.....another story for another thread...). Anyway, with about 20 different agencies in the area, I was always studying who carried what. I quickly learned that the Sigs were the premier duty pistol at the time. I bought mine, started my LE career and the only time I've strayed was into the 1911 world. Cutting to the chase....you'll love the 320! It's starting to steamroll right into being the #1 pistol of current time. Here's mine. The grip frame stippling was done by Boresight. It's my everyday carry off duty.

+1 on that. The P220 is one of the best pistols on the planet.

One of the best combat autos to go into the "dark" and one that you will be extraordinarily comfortable in carrying to the dark side!

I used to have a P250c 40sw before I went 10mm. I like the grip the best, really comfy to hold.

I love my Sig 229 compact(3.5 barrel with full grip) carried in a rear guard type holster. But my most often carried gun is my 642 in a pocket holster, just so easy to grab and go. I also usually have a Beretta 84 in the console. What is the dark side, a Sig or a plastic gun?

Starting to feel like a dinasour, by not embracing the whole plastic striker thing. One difference, I've not ever had to carry for any extended amount of time. I've always liked the Sigs, and that would probably be my choice if I had to carry regularly.
