For no particular reason I haven't been shooting much .45 ACP the last couple of years. The purchase of my second 625 revolver and a recent range trip with my Ruger SR1911 has rekindled the love. Got me to looking around for another 1911 and was browsing the web. I saw this offering from the Custom Shop at Sig. Listed as hand fitted slide, match grade barrel, hammer/sear trigger and premium parts. Sig is putting out some nice guns lately. I reside in an occupied State with a limited selection, so I figured I'd give it a try.

Picked it up today and tore it down for a cleaning and lube. Not your traditional 1911 as it has the external extractor. Series 80 design. Trigger is crisp at 5 pounds and fit and finish are excellent. Has the single sided "tactical" safety and semi extended slide release. Both are similar to the Wilson parts on my Clark Custom worked Ruger, which is a plus. Upon tearing it down I noticed that it has the flat wire recoil spring setup. Standard Sig night sights with an adjustable rear. Sight picture is front dot on rear line and comes up fast. We'll see how it shoots. Range report to follow.

SIG 1911 fan myself. Picked up the fastback nightmare carry (shorter name please!) a couple weeks ago and love it. The other is a XO. I like the non traditional slide and the external extractor works. They both chuck brass into the next shooting bay!

Got a question: on the picture of the rear of the slide, what is that round thing to the right of the firing pin? On conventional 45s, that's the back of the extractor, but what is it on the SIG?
