Ruger SR9c Ruger® SR9c® * Centerfire Pistol Model 3317

vs.

Ruger American Pistol 9mm Ruger® Ruger American Pistol® * Centerfire Pistol Model 8663

Anybody own both or at least shot both? If so, your thoughts please.

Living in a 10-round (post-ban) limited state, I am always interested when a new 10-round (10+1) compact pistol comes out and becomes MA-legal. I own the Ruger SR9c and am reasonably happy with it, especially for the price I paid. Should I be thinking about a (fairly inexpensive) trade up to the new Ruger American Compact or not? My favorite local dealer just got one in stock. What do you think?

I never liked the looks of the older center fire ruger auto pistols, have a full size American and enjoy it

with that said ruger never put out any junk!

so I would suggest to you to use the one you like best

It took me a long time to accept the slightly odd looks & design features of the SR9c... but friends kept urging me on and that quest for the most compact 10+1 round 9mm pistol finally made me go for one... albeit "slightly used" and at a terrific low price. :) Now, the American Compact is out and it seemingly "fixed" some of my minor complaints. Given it's low cost and how little I have invested in my SR9c, it would be the world's cheapest upgrade ever. ;)

Yes, I know it's really a 12-rounder limited to 10-rounds in moonbat states and that bothers me... but the height isn't supposed to be any greater than the SR9c although weight is up. :o I was supposed to go look at one today but I punted. Too many other things on my plate. Still nowhere around here to try one out either so look is about all I can do before buying. :o

It's certainly not a top priority, but my engineer's curiosity has got me thinking and wondering and asking myself: "Hey, why not"? :)
