I happened upon an old friend from high school as I was browsing the hardware store and we got talking guns. Turns out he had a Mak 90 he was wanting to get rid of. Photos appeared to be a plain old Mak 90 with a ATI Fiberforce stock. He was wanting $600 and I wasn't too excited but then he showed me more photos and turns out it was originally an underfolder when imported! I talked him into selling me 3 Chinese 30rd mags, one surplus "Euro" mag, 3 Chinese 5rd mags, and the rifle for $640. That is where my adventure begins.

I immediately ditched the Fiberforce stock as it seemed pointless on a rifle without an optics mount.

Stock removed next to my NPAP.

I then peeled back the ears on the rivet blocking the underfolder hole and pulled that rivet out. I then cut off the rear tang that the importer had welded on to make the Fiberforce stock fit. After that I reblued the area where these welds were. Unfortunately the welds are still noticeable as to completely remove those I would have to grind into the rear about 1/8" which is removing too much material IMO.

I then installed a Romanian underfolder stock, Romanian pistol grip, and Russian laminate handguards (which took about two hours of hand fitting)

I have a Chinese sling on order and am going to have the muzzle rethreaded for 1/2x28 since the original 14x1 threads have been removed. Overall I am very satisfied with a Chinese underfolder with 7 mags for $725 8) especially considering people are paying that for a Ras 47 that will fall apart in 1,000 rounds. She is by no means a beauty queen but she was made to work.
