H&R 929 Question

Hi all
I just picked up a H&R 929 made in 1979.
The plastic locating pins inside the grips on the right grip are sheared off but I have them.
Any tips to make a repair? I don't think glue will hold up or last.
Even better will wood grips from another H&R fit the 929?
Seems like a sturdy shooter grade piece with a decent single action pull and double action is better than I expected.
Haven't tried her out yet, hope it's a fun plinker.

Egunparts usually has replacement parts for these. Hard to say on your grip issue without seeing them but I'd be tempted to make repairs using a section of finish nail.

I also had a 929 .22 many years ago, but mine was a 2" snubby. One of those guns I had which simply vanished, no idea where it went to. I don't know from your description what the breakage was (I don't remember what the grips looked like), but I would try a good epoxy before anything else. It shouldn't be too difficult to find replacement grips. Look on eBay, also maybe Gun Parts/Numrich. At one time Numrich had lots of H&R revolver parts. One problem with many of the more recent H&R revolvers was they had a plastic-tipped (Nylon I think) hammer spring strut, and the plastic often broke. Numrich had all steel replacement struts for about $15, and maybe 10 years or so I bought one from them for another H&R revolver. A simple part replacement that about anyone can do.

I have "fixed" several grips, first made broke off pin area flat
with file. Select a drill bit size of pin. Drill broken off pin area
as deep as possible, careful not to drill clear through. Epoxy
new pins in holes. I use the squewers they sell for meat, made
of wood on some, others I sacrifice the drill bit to use for pins.
If you are lucky some size of a common nail will work, easy to cut with dikes.

So I used JB weld and cut a drill bit to use as locating pins, repaired 3 broken ones. Worked like a charm. Wood would be nice i have to research that.

The shape of the grip frame and stocks are similar to an H & R 999 Sportsman that came with wood stocks; wouldn't be surprised if they have the same grip frame dimensions.

The 999 seem to be different.
For now I will go with the fix and keep looking for wood.
