I was getting back to my roots with the old 1911 platform again, and it happened AGAIN. Bought a shiny new Sig P938 Sport-13. Price was good, and it seemed to be the perfect back up to my Colt Combat Commander in 9mm. Gotta say, I was surprised by the lack of recoil, and the utterly reliable way its functioned thus far. 300 rounds of various hollow point, jacketed, truncated, and reloaded stuff. All fed, fired, and ejected without issue. All I did prior to running it, was field strip, and add a couple of drops of oil to the frame rails. Not sure if its the perfect pistol, being not S&W, but I'm for sure falling in love with this lil beaut. Who else out there has one? Are you in love or only lust with it? Anyone else got the 1911 bug again?

I had one of them, along with a Sig 238. I carried them daily in a OWB holster under a t shirt. They are a very nice gun and shoot well. I had one problem with them. I always carried cocked and locked in the holster. There have been several times when I NEEDED the gun to shoot (rattle snakes around the farm) and it would not fire. There was a build up of debris such as shirt fuzz, hair and/or other dirt type stuff that had collected on the rear of the slide where the hammer strikes the firing pin. I would pull the trigger and *snap*. After blowing or wiping off the debris the gun would fire. It seemed to me that the firing pin only protruded very slightly from the firing pin stop plate. After a summer of the same problem, I sold it and got me a Springfield XDs .45acp. I have never had a problem since. Like I said, I really like the 938 but it wasn't for me.

I am a RSO/instructor and see shooters with a wide variety of skills or lack of them so to speak. For some reason most of them shoot the Sig 938/238 very well. It seems to fit in everyone's hand and most people are very accurate with them.

My objection to them was stated above. Cocked and locked in a pocket gun is just not my cup of tea.

THE HEART WANTS WHAT THE HEART WANTS.... ENJOY YOUR NEW LOVE FRIEND!! :)

I have a SIG P238 Spartan that I pocket carry when the need arises. It's reliable and well made.

I've been contemplating the 938---but I keep reading about little issues with that one (main spring housing problems, mags ejecting, frame being chewed up). I might wait until all the bugs are out---maybe they already are out.

I would personally use a grease on all SIGs. The new Nitron finishes seem to be *very* hard on the anodized aluminum frame.

Glad you like your new piece. SIG makes a fine weapon.

Sigs can definitely grow on you.

Besides these eight, I gave a P230 to my son and have a P232 enroute as I type this.

I have had my eye on them, but after reading this, I won't be getting one.

Yes, I got one recently and really like it so far.
It doesn't ride in the pocket though. It's in a Lobo offset IWB.
I haven't seen any build up of anything yet and it's very comfortable to carry at 4:00.
So far, so good.

I've shot a 938 and really liked it. I like pocket carry and in a couple months thinking about adding a small single stack 9mm for my larger pockets. Like others there's that thing with cocked and locked in a pocket. I just don't know. It's pretty much between the 938 and a Kahr CM9.

Sig vs Kimber

Sig makes an excellent firearm, I have the 4.5” Sig P227, .45 acp and I love it. I tried the P938 and the Kimber Micro 9 and liked the feel and the recoil better with the Kimber. However, I feel that both are excellent but I enjoyed the Kimber more and it was $100 cheaper. It is a mini-me of my .45 Kimber Ultra CDP II.

I have a 938 - okay, it's really my wife's, but it's a soft shooting little gun. It's the easiest pocket-sized gun to shoot I've ever tried. Hers has the rubber Hogue wraparound grip, and that may be one reason it's so comfortable in the hand.

I did have to send it back to Sig once. It simply quit firing for no obvious reason. They said the sear pin was out of place. They also upgraded the mainspring housing to the newer design and replaced the grips. It has functioned perfectly ever since. I'm guessing it has about 1000 rounds through it at this point.

I didn't like the trigger at first. For a single action only pistol I find the trigger rather heavy, but it is very smooth.

Don't be afraid of cocked and locked, just figure out a holster system that makes you comfortable. I always had my 1911's in a thumb strap which rendered it very safe. That style gun if pocket carried, will attract lint but I keep my wife's toothbrush next to the case I store the gun in and a quick shot of air or a swipe of her toothbrush solved that problem.
My P series Sigs love grease in places I never thought to apply it so read the manual very carefully.
Any gun that shoots as well as those small Sigs is well worth looking at in my book.

I carried one for a little while but recently started carrying my Kahr MK9. It's about the same size as the P938 but all stainless and no hammer. Trigger is very smooth and it's shoots great.

If you go to your local gun emporium and take a look at them, the 938 firing pins stick out only about 10-15 thousandth from the firing pin retaining plate. Take a look at a regular 1911 and there is about 20-40 thousandths, depending on make and model. Just my 2 cents. They are great guns though. I could keep a full mag in a 18" circle from over 50 yards off hand pretty easy with them.

I like them and have heard nothing but good about them.
A single action auto should be carried cocked and locked, so your experience will keep me and my J frames partners a bit longer. :)

my 938 is not a pocket gun. an lcp sits there. it rides in a good, quality IWB holster that makes the safety ride in the up position till drawn. i should make it clear that i use shooters choice red grease on the rails of all my 1911s no matter size... just wanted a small, quality 9mm that was platform compatible to go with my commander. there was no NEED in the purchase of the 938, just want. i'm however terribly hooked on this little gem, and am sure it will see plenty of range time.
