Special Guns

Two U.S. Fire Arms. 44 Specials.
Flat Top shot every so often.

Bisley remains unfired.

Both, to me anyway, are very fine Art
and ultimate craftsmanship. All seams
are like the metal grew together.

Also, I like my Rare Circa 2004 Ruger Gold
Label Side by Side 12ga Shotgun.
I'm so busy out at the Farm I usually end
up taking it out just one time during our
Pheasant Season.

Two of my carry choices standout because they are excellent at both carry and range duty, performing almost as well for me at the range as their longer barreled brothers.
CZ PCR and 3" 686+

There are many such stories here on the Forum and in my personal collection

Back in 1980, a buddy of mine came to me with his 3 week old Nickel Model 57. His wife just hit him with divorce papers and he needed cash for the attorney. I did not want a 41 Magnum, I was not loading for a 41 Magnum and I was too cash poor to add another caliber to the stable. However, I wanted to help my friend and gave him the cash he needed.

Well I took it to the range and was astounded by the accuracy of the cartridge. That was it, I was in love with this oddball caliber.

I still own that first 41 Magnum and over the decades I have added a few brothers to it. It is the bottom left revolver in this old 41 Magnum group photo

Then there was the strange Swiss made CZ clone that was sitting in my favorite gun shop's case. Imported by Magnum Research the ASAI One Pro had not become very popular here in America. However it had an outstanding DA trigger pull and the price was right. It uses the same magazines as the CZ and EAA 45s so that makes life simple.

I must also mention the Smith and Wesson Model 52. I was maintaining the computers for a friend of mine. He wanted a to upgrade the system his daughter used but was short on cash. He offered to trade me his Model 52 with a Bomar rib for the new upgrades. That was back in 1991. What can I say, Model 52s need to be shot to be appreciated, words can not do them justice as there is no basis for comparison. I still shoot this gun now

I could go on, I guess I love them all for one reason or another :)

Well there is my 629 , P&R.
I couldn't buy it, I had to trade for it.
It was a few ago down at a Ruidoso gunshow.
I got a little excited when I realized what it was I was holding.
I suppressed my excitement and put up my best poker face.
How much do want?
seller say , I don't really want money, I want a Browning citori.
Sorry, I don't have one if those.
That guy over there does.
So I wind up negotiating with the shotgun seller and buying the Citori.
Then I swap it for my 629! Yes!
Did you ever read the Jack London story about the South Pacific Pearl Buyer?
He tried to buy this huge Pearl from a local diving family who had found it.
They didn't want money.
They wanted a metal roofed house, a sewing machine, and a list of stuff like that.
They probably would have asked for a Citori if they had known About them!

Three for me...
1911 Glenn Custom .38 Super that was given to me as a gift, didn't "buy"
1968 mfg Colt LW Commander (.45)
S&W 27-2 5" gun, 1978 mfg

My first two 3" model 66-3s.........................got one through a local gunsmith in 1988....... and on a whim had him get me a second. $270 out the door on each...... with hand polished actions....... each wears a set of Spegel checkered wood Boot Grips

All my 39xx guns...... IMHO the best single stack 9mm concealed carry auto one can own. Based on early 80s customized chopped 39s with names like ASP, Devel and Trapper.......... w/ Hogue checker wood grips.

Though not carried or shot much..... my Browning HPs with checkered Hogue grips......... make me :D.

I've got 4 PC autos from the early 90s........ IMHO some of the nicest ''factory" made autos ever offered by anyone....... two Shorty 9s , a DPA 5906 and an SD9.

On the other end of the $$$$$ scale the Model 915 are a hidden treasure....... I've accumulated every one I've had the chance to buy locally over the past 17 year............ I "kinda" regret selling my first to a good friend who needed a hi-cap for Y2K.

Hmm, I don't know about beautiful, but I have a couple I really enjoy because of their unique designs. They are the Steyr GB and the Grand Power K100 Mk7.

For well made I would go with my SP-01 Phantom and 5906 Tactical.

How could I forget my ANIB 586s........... a 6" with Spegel Extended Boot grips ..... a 4" with SEBG and

my favorite a 4 inch -6; factory round butt with Spegel extended boot grips in birdseye maple!!!!!!

I like them better for looks and function than Python's .........IMHO the 586 have better double action triggers....... and retain the K-frame grips and trigger reach.

Which reminds me ...... my Beretta 92 SB's..... round trigger guards, polished, bright blue Italian finishes w/ walnut grips....... 2 Compacts and 2 Compact Type-Ms (single stack)....... made to the standards of a fine Beretta Shotgun!.......

All the above would make perfect "BBQ Guns" anyone would be proud of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

My S&W 629 stands out. Plus my Sig P220. Both are great looking and great guns.

Pretty much every one I've bought, thank you for asking ;).

This was my first thought upon reading the thread subject, as well. But then, I realized that I do own a few "stinkers"!

So...here are a few of mine that come to mind. Some of them may be rather *vanilla* or pedestrian, but for one reason or another...they're special to me.

S&W M.625 3 in. .45 Colt
S&W M.627 5 in. (x2) (I forget if they are no-dash or -0...guess I need to revisit some of my *babies*)
S&W M.625 5 in. .45 ACP Model of 1988
S&W M.610 5 in.
S&W M.52(-2?)
2x Colt SAA 5.5 in. sequentially numbered nickled .45 ACP/.45 Colt
2x Dan Wesson .44 Mags
Ruger Redhawk 5.5 in. .45 Colt
Ruger Redhawk 5.5 in. .44 Mag.
