Hand Made Fixed Blade
While on vacation in Colorado a year ago, I stopped in a local sporting goods store in Durango. They had a really nice selection of hand made and semi-custom knives. I love knives only slightly less than guns! I looked over their selection of knives from a "local" maker by the name James R. Largent and fell in love with this one. He calls it the "Durango Drop Point", has a 4" blade made of AEB-L steel hardened to 60RC, spalted maple scales and file-marked. I am finally getting around to "sharing" it with others. Does anyone here have any knives made by James? Would love to see them, if so.

Beautiful, and looks like a good worker in a variety of chores. For me, three and a half to four inches is just about the ideal blade length for general use.

As is the style - drop point. Seems to be the best for everything from slicing to skinning.

Agreed. The best all-around-use fixed-blade I've ever owned is a four-inch, drop-point Bark River Highland Special, an early one with the 0.150" thick blade.

These might be for sale in the near future. I could be talked out of them if anyone is interested!!
