Bought the HK VP9 SK a few weeks back and finally got round to getting some rounds through it. Looking to hopefully use it in my EDC rotation, but not before I've run a few hundred rounds through it first.
Overall when I picked it up, I really liked the feel and balance of the gun. I'm not one of those guys that says the brand is better than that brand. I take each and every gun at face value and try them myself. So the VP9SK is probably sized between the Glock 26 and Glock 19. That's probably the two closest guns I own that's comparable. First off the bat, I love the stock sights on the VP9. They stand out and are very easy to see and get back on target easily. Also the trigger. For a striker fired gun it's the best out the box that I've come across. I own a few Glocks, Walther PPS and Sig P320. This for me has the best trigger from those, just shades the P320 which has a great trigger also.
So cleaned, lubed and off to the range. Gun comes with two magazines. One flush and one extended. I thought it was pretty poor that the extended didn't fit any more rounds than the flush. Both hold 10 plus 1. I did read they are coming out with a 13 and 15 round magazine next month.
At the range a shot 100 rounds of 115 grain ball ammo, and then 30 rounds of HST 147 grain hollow points. Not a single problem with either. The gun shot straight and true. Recoil was not that bad, about the same as most guns it's size, and overall I was pretty impressed with it.
I was happy with my group size, but accuracy could be better. I caught myself flinch ever so slightly on a few occasions and put the low and left down to me and not the gun. Gonna have my brother in law record me shooting next week just to see what I'm doing wrong.
Overall I'd be happy to recommend this gun for someone looking for a subcompact 9mm.
